| After watching Dixon this season i would question putting him as full back. I am not questioning his ability to break the line in attack and his pace is there for all to see. He has also improved under the high ball as the season has gone on.
However, defensively he is pretty poor, I'm not sure what his tackle completion percentage is but i wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 40%. His link play is often found wanting with a lot of passes going straight into touch instead of to their intended target. Lets not talk about his kicking game.
I just don't believe this is the level to be developing him into this role, i think he would be better served on the wing to utilise his pace and put Charlie at FB to increase the chance of completing a tackle from the FB position.

| Bad options all round. Contrary to common belief Charlies tackle success at FB is equally bad and he's as prone if not more to an error than Dixon.
Dixons pace will get him out of trouble a lot of times and his threat in attack will only increase. Yes his passing is a bit hit and miss, is BC's any better, his kicking isn't great is BC's? We have 2 good wingers in JM and KS so why we'd put a little guy on the wing if our back line is fit is beyond me. BC is great as a utility but nothing else and shouldn't be first choice in any position.

| Dixon cannot be our long term choice at fullback if we want to be better than what we are as a team now. BCs passing is ALOT better imo, dixons pace may get him an extra 5metres or so on kick return but 9 times out of 10 he gets pushed back that due to his size! He's a running fullback and his passing game chiming into the line is just not good enough unfortunately. Just because he's Young, raw and only just came it doesn't mean he automatically deserves a place in the team. BC is the better short term option but think we need a new fullback for the long term. Dixon is better suited on the wing for me.

| Oh and his tackling is beyond a joke at last man. Surely Barham red you don't think charlie is equally as bad as Dixon?! Shocking.

I do, its overlooked due to his enthusiasm but his last man tackling is shocking. His error count in most games is high. I know he's a fans favourite and all that but enthusiasm aside he's not that good. At Best he's as good as Dixon and as a fill in on the wing or off the bench he's ok but never a starting FB. We need to give Dixon a real run at FB, constantly changing does no good whatsoever. Pretty certain if Hall was still here they'd be calls for him at FB and look how thats working out.

| As an aside if he Dixon was dropped we would have lost against Saints and he was our best player against Hull. Still lets drop him,!!!

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.: |
|
| Kieran Dixon has won 2 justified MOM awards from fullback during our recent good run of results. He has dipped in form a bit recently along with the rest of the team, but he was in no way to blame for the result at Catalans.
He has speed, intensity, enthusiasm and a certain X Factor. He has improved under the high ball. He makes good metres bringing the ball away from our line.
He needs to work on his defence (which is appalling) and link up play (which is hit and miss) but he will get better on both if he gets the extended run at fb his current performances deserve.
On the basis of my personal assessment above, everybody in the team is a better tackler than Dixon at the moment, including Charlie.

| I don't really see either option as the solution in the long term. I think promotion from within (Josh Guzdek) or an alternative option should be sought from elsewhere.
A thought on persisting with Dixon at FB. i believe he needs clear, concise instruction in attack, something like "NEVER kick, pass if its to the teammate immediately to your side AND its 100% gonna make its intended target". Even then the issue with the poor defence remains, if CC does stick with Dixon and he doesn't improve, at what point is enough, enough?

Well we had 2 years of Eden making the same mistakes over and over again. It's all up to the coaches ateotd.

| I can not belive some of the rubish I am reading, Dixon is a quantum leap in quality over Eden, his pace alone is worth his inclusion in the squad, If he is not that good in his choice of attacking options then we get the halfs to organise him & bring him into space, like all players we plan our game around the differing atributes of the players we have available we dont expect Walker to sprint the length of the field so dont expect Dixon to stop the likes of Crabtree. Play to his strengths. I also remember a couple of touchline conversions in a pre season game as well.

| The Ben cockayne must play brigade is really ridiculous. I honestly don't think half the fans watch the same game. Dixon has a poor kicking game? Based on 1 rushed kick at Cas? Should he have even been kicking, clearly he shouldn't have and if were comparing it to BC then he has no kicking game. Dixon runs the ball out better, is a better running attacking threat and IMO better under the high ball(much improved) they both make the odd error but most fbs do. Coming in to the line there both under par but I'd say BC is slightly better defensively. It's a no brainer to me but hey Ben must play! This season the fans have wanted josh dropped and even came up with an argument for boudebza to be dropped for him. Cockayne is a great utility player with his best position being on the wing sadly we have 2, 3 if you include Dixon better wingers at the club.

| i come in peace, i have seen dixon a few times and imo he is an exiting player coming forward and to me looks more like a winger, his pace alone makes him dangerous but at fullback he does look iffy, think he would make a good winger though

| A little context here. Dixon, at 22 years of age is 10 years younger than Cockayne. There is no improvement likely in Ben's game whereas Dixon has bags of talent and will only get better with game time in the same position. If he'd come through the ranks as a 22 year old, the attitude would be so different. "he's one of ours, kids make mistakes and learn" etc.
Cockayne was our full back in 2007 when he was 24 and he wasn't good enough then, eventually losing the shirt to Ian Hardman. He's a good back up, nothing more.
The "Hackney Express" is the future, all aboard.

Not many 5' 9" wingers in the modern game. He would get bombed to death.
