Well, we didn't pay a fee for him, and he's only been on the payroll for 5 months, and I doubt his annual wage was anywhere near even the lower figure so, unless you mean something wider, like Weyman as well, it won't be that bad. Still a bit plop though - if true, etc.

Maybe I'd overestimated, I figured as a 'marquee' name he'd command at least £150k a year (that figure is thrown about for a lot of the bigger names since Rovers' first SL season). I thought he would get at least a year's wages unless he's getting released for a breach of contact?

I'm not sure he'd qualify as marquee, for all that he's got a lot of winners medals. I doubt there are too many props earning 6-figure salaries in SL.
If it's true, I suspect it'll be 'mutual agreement'. Mightn't be further cost free - depends which side it's coming from, I guess. But there's no way Rovers would cough up all that money for no good reason.

He'll be de-registered pronto if he hasn't been already. Just like Weyman will have been.

This makes them both ineligible for selection and therefore no longer part of the salary cap. If Bailey was not de-registered then yes even one appearance would make him count on the cap for the whole season because Rovers would still be able to call on him any time.

Bailey was on less than £100k , Weyman was on more than £100k but together they free up a lot of cap and in the case of Weyman a 'full' quota spot. Finding quality replacements in mid season is the harder part, the Shillington deal depends on his current club being willing to subsidise his wages as was the case with Allgood & Campese.
