Unfortunate outcome today.

If you were there I would like to hear your opinion of the team today, especially the new signings.

Dixon - Poor, looked far better pre-season but struggled under the high ball today.
Sio - Excellent, despite seeing little ball, looks a great prospect
Goulding - OK.
Mantellato - Decent debut, 100% with the boot, but most were fairly easy.
Campese - Great debut, controlled much of the game when Rovers had the ball, faded in the last 20 due to lack of match fitness.
Kelly - Brilliant debut, the kid got MOTM and should have had a hat-trick. Unlike most of his teammates, the kid knows how to tackle as well.
Allgood - solid debut, good try.
Burke - Great pass for Allgood's try, looks a decent player.
McCarthy went ok
Donaldson came off the bench and tackled well, looks a bit lightweight.
Blair, came off the bench and looks 10kg overweight.

All were let down by what appears to be a total lack of training on how the defend as a team, our line speed was shocking, I lost count of the missed tackles, and Welham can just go and fook off to Halifax permanently right now. He cost us 18 points on his own today. In fact, he jumped so far out of the line that he had to reach behind himself for his 70m interception try. Worst centre in SL by a country mile.

I thought everyone looked ok standouts was Kelly and campese i think if we keep them fit we will win more than we will lose, a combination of fitness defence and match officials lost us the game today we look very expansive and scored some real good trys a lot to be optimistic about

That's a pretty good summing up apart from your attack on Welham. It wasn't scathing enough! We put all that effort into buying a new back line and still pick that nuggit. When his name was announced I put my head in my hands. That has to be his first and last game of the season. Can't see Halifax wanting him to be honest.

In attack they looked good & will improve, defence by both sides was poor Leeds pushed off tackles far to easy for me but once they learn to trust each other it should improve (if they dont we will have to rely on out scoring the opposition) Out wide Welham was left short quiet a few times, We simply got the numbers wrong & he had to shoot out to try & stop the attack. I am happy with the side but they are on a steep learning curve & will need to improve quickly. Leeds are what you expect, well drilled, good at doing the simple things well & at pace.

A 30 -16 lead would have been enough to see off most other teams, so I'm not worried about one loss.
When we get it right somebody will get a real seeing to.
The defence needs to improve massively , so bye bye welham.

Leeds second phase really killed us in that second half but for me was 100% improvement on last year and was enjoyable to watch. Just need to tighten the left flank in defence and we will make the top 8

This game has proved to me that Cockayne should be full back. Dixon is a luxury that is hard to place in the team. The back line picks itself barring Welham!!! To say he was gash is being kind. Campese was playing in his dinner suite the first half and was very impressive, tho his tackling needs sharpening up (too many one on one brush offs). Kelly for me needs to run the ball a bit more, he'd frighten the life out of teams if he did. But great debut non the less. Keal had a busy game which was good to see. Allgood and Walker will be devastating props (both good ball handlers). Burke was wrapped up a lot today, seemed Leeds thought he was one prop to watch today. Missed Wayman today.
If Chester picks Welham next week after that, I'd be amazed. Blair to for me.
Apart from the result. I've more optimism this season than I've had for a long time. Wakefield game a must win though now.

Dixon at FB is tragic. Too weak and a terrible tackler to offer any kind of last line of defence which is although less valued nowadays, still needed in some shape or form but he just has 0! Basically a try if a player breaks our line! Charlie or try mantellato and stick Dixon on the wing where he proved he was 10000x better at the Derby friendly! Standouts today for me where kelly, campese, Sio, Blair, allgood and even Donaldson who I thought played great! Goulding did well aswell imo

Looks like we've had an outstanding off season with new signings just can we keep our best players long enough to build on the squad and stop the constant high turn-over of players each year - no from me! Also Kelly will have multiple nrl offers by the end of his stay with us if he carries on the way he's started and granted we don't sell him!!!

Overall, fairly pleased. We struggled with 3 props all game with bailey and weyman in we would of been a lot tighter round the middle stopping Leeds quick ptb's which eventually killed us. Although our halves played well, I think we was missing some game management especially at 30-16 up. We should of played a lot smarter, built pressure and forced repeat sets or made Leeds travel 90 metres. They got on a roll and we couldn't stop it. I can barely recall a kick finding touch and us taking the sting out of the game by packing down slowly etc, we just got over excited at times when control was needed.
Encouraged though, and a couple of decisions went our way or Dixon scored instead of dropping it on that break then we would of won, of which nobody could of argued was not fair. The challenge now is to maintain intensity, and tackle!

I didn't see the game but I have seen enough of Dixon at London to know that he cannot be full back in a team full of adults because he cannot tackle anyone bigger than Rob Burrow. So move Dixon to the wing, where the cover defence has a chance of helping him more than at full back, and bring Mantellato to full back.

Blair is basically a centre, and should replace Welham there.

Lack of fitness is the coach's fault. Hopefully that aspect will improve over the coming weeks, along with the line defence discipline.

Great effort today plenty of our players thanking us for our great support on twitter.Reasonably simple solution next week, charlie to fullback, blair to centre, welham to halifax if they'll have him.Dixon while promising going forward, couldnt tackle a sunday dinner but all in all lots of positives.
