| A genuine question. Does anyone know how monies from the play off's are split? I believe gates are split 50/50 between the 2 opposing teams but is the play off sky money split between the top 8? Or all 14 clubs? Or do you get a bigger percentage the further a team progresses in the play off's? How much did Leeds get out of their success last year for example?
I asked a few people this before the game today and no one knew. Clearly things are tight at both Hull clubs what with Pearson and Hudgell harping on about getting fans back into their grounds. Financially not making the 8 could be disastrous for either club.

IIRC Staints lost over £800,000 a couple of years ago despite reaching the GF.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

Do you mean all other positions (3-14) or from the top 8?

The above comment has got to be so wrong! At a normal home game Rovers have, what, 7000 pass holders. So at the moment an average of 500 (ish) are paying on the gate. If 400 are adults and 100 are kids/OAP's that is roughly £9k extra income for home games.
If Rovers reach the play off's ALL pay on the day. Hopefully Hudge will have some extra seating in place by then. 9000 paying £20 and 1000 paying £10 is £190k. Even with a 50/50 gate receipt split, after merchandise sales, hospitality, food and drink surely Rovers are guaranteed £100k, probably double that for Hull. That is for 1 game! If the Sky play off money (if there is such money?) is split between play off only clubs and a club gets to the final eliminator, it has got to be close to £1million in EXTRA revenue. Rough estimates I know, please don't shoot me down about averages and pass holders. I'm still just very curious about my original question?

Why because Rovers are struggling? Or because I am a Hull fan posting on an open forum? Anyway there is a long way to go in the season yet! I am old enough and wise enough to realize that since Rovers have been in SL and the banter in the workplace and schools has probably put 1000's on our gates. The derby alone puts 500 on our average. In my opinion we need each other, I am worried about both clubs and the game in general finances. The only thing I hate about Rovers is getting beat by them and finishing below them.
I posted on the Rovers forum because as things stand I thought it was something that Rovers would be far more concerned about. Not trolling, just thought if posted this on the Hull pages I don't think it would have got a response/potential answer at all.

| I believe the net proceeds from the play-off series excluding the Grand Final are split between the eight qualifying teams. The net proceeds of the Grand Final (after costs and the RFL's cut) are split between the finalists.
There is definitely a financial implication of not making the play-offs although as attendances in these games have tended to be low in recent seasons it's not necessarily make or break. Having said that year on year failure to make the top eight will have an effect, as Bradford have discovered.

Hi Steve. We had a specific problem with finance threads for a while, the details of which I can pm you if you're interested.
It's actually nice to have, what is after all an important issue, discussed sensibly. For Rovers, I'm not sure that prize money will have been that valuable to us. We've made the play-offs these last 3 years, but haven't gone far in any of them. In contrast Bradford went to 5 Grand Finals in a row, so that will have been a much more pronounced loss of revenue, I imagine.
The more important impact would perhaps be in gates falling, if performances and results don't improve, and being less attractive to potential signings. As you say, it is still fairly early in the season and for a transitional season 3-1-6 is disappointing rather than horrorific. We're playing poorly at the moment and that was cruelly exposed yesterday.
That a shortish-term downturn in form can potentially threaten a club's long-term viability, suggests we are, as Hudgell says, building on foundations of sand. Apart from maybe Leeds and Wigan, all the English clubs is SL have been giving of distress signals of one type or another. The recession is biting hard, on the RL demographic particularly so. There seems to be an appetite for change amongst at least some of the club chairmen. Interesting times ahead.
