It not just the fact that almost 1,000 jobs are being lost, but that many are highly skilled and well paid jobs which bring in millions of pounds into the local economy, it will have a massive knock on effect on other businessess in the area, for both the direct suppliers for BAE and other businessess suffering due to the reduced spending power of the reduced local workforce.
