HKR have a youth setup to develop young talent from this region just like FC, I get the feeling Morgan just isn't prepared to let Lovegrove leave the club as he feels like many Rovers fans including myself that he could be big!!

All the top young rugby league talent in this region has gone FC's way in recent times, because FC were the only Super League side and had the pick of the bunch.

We need time to bring youth through our system and into the first team, the young rugby league talent in the region will now become more evenly split between the two clubs.

Rovers have just given Welham and I'Anson both young british local talent a chance in the big time, and our youth setup produced one of the best players currently in British rugby league in the form of Jon Wilkin.

Probably doesn't want to admit that Hull KR has produced the best Hull born player that is currently playing in SL.

Scrawl all the negatives you like, the fact is we have watched him improve for us with every game, he has taken to SL quite well and is big, strong and skillful and I reckon he will only get better. At 20 yrs old he has got to be worth a contract and I would not bet against him becoming a top SL second rower with time.

not scrawling for anything, if he is good enough to bend the rules for, he would be good enough for saint george, he may get to be a first grade player, he may be a game in game out player for you, but he will never play for Aus, he will never play for GB, he isnt going to be MoS and isnt worth the exception, and is exactly the type of player the RFL should be looking to discourage clubs from bringing over

Great post. The new rules are there to rid us of the average foreigners that have plagued SL for too long now and any team trying to get around the rules should be treat with contempt. If he's that good why isn't justine including him on the quota?

If our friend Smokey would have done his homework he would know that St George-Illawarra Dragons actually chose not to run a Jersey Flegg (U-20's) team this season which left Rhys out of match practice.

This was the reason he became available and HKR were quick enough to snap him up thanks to his good friend Mark Lennon who has known him since Rhys was 8 years old.

Often players don't make the first grade until they turn 22/23 unless they are very special. Some clubs blood youth quicker than others but most will develop and nurture their youth until ready to play NRL.

This is due to the strength in depth, the Premier League Reserve grade teams play to a high standard and often talent goes unnoticed.

Jonathan Thurston was spotted playing in the Aboriginal Knockout competition which is played every single year at various venues in Australia. The calibre of player is outstanding and often Aboriginal players will refuse to leave their families and friends in pursuit of a footy career.
Other players to have been spotted playing in the Knockout are Denis Moran, Dean Widders, Matt Sing etc.

The point of the story is, just because Rhys isn't playing first grade NRL at 20 doesn't mean he won't develop into an International by the time he returns to Australia. Watch out next season, ignore him at your peril!

but he shouldnt have that option, the whole point of the new quota rules is stop bringing over players who are taking the places of BRITISH youngsters, the punt Morgan is taking on Lovegrove is a punt Morgan should be taking on a BRITISH player, otherwise it is a completely worthless change,

and dont talk stupid, the reserve grade in Australia isnt that high of a level, it is a league which is roughly as good as the top two in NL1, its nowhere near the level of SL, to say any different is ludicrous
