However my thoughts are these.
Rovers were fools to sign him without proper paperwork.
To de-register Dobson could have backfired and we lose the no 1 influencial player we have.
We have made ourselves look silly to the rest of superleague and perhaps made the RFL look at us in a different light.
Mason has my sympathy in that it was not his cock-up and he has every right to look after himself.

This is for next season it was never going to be this season he played I will try and find a link for it, as I remember it was defo that Sumet was required for Toulon.

Good to see some Rovers fans like you (and Zod!) are seeing the situation for what it is. Hope Mason's name isn't blackened further. Not fair, and possibly defamatory, some of the stuff regarding the blame for this and his motives that is being said about him on here and in the local media.

When Galea's Maltese passport fell through, either by luck or judgement, the club had a plan B - Mason [uis[/u eligible for a Tongan passport. And under normal circumstances he would have one. The timing of Tonga's voyage into partial democracy and the problems they encountered were not anticipated - least of all by the Tongans, sadly. The Dobson thing was worked through [iwith[/i the RFL.
I have no especial bitterness towards Mason, but sympathy is pushing it given that he has supposedly quadrupled his wage. And Toulon does look nice.
Be interesting to see how he gets on in RU - a lot of kick tennis nowadays and substitutions rather than interchanges. If the Barbarians give him anything more than the last 20 minutes, I can see him seriously struggling.

the situation as you put it is quite simple for all thoses people who see common sense.
rovers messed up the process from the start.
mason plays along while getting paid (and quite rightly)
mason gets offered mega bucks to swap codes (while still been paid by hkr)
mason accepts the deal and takes the money.
what ever way you want to potray mason thats your call ,we all have our own views.

I have said it before,but I will say it again. Putting aside all banter and rivalries ,I feel sorry for you supporters.Mason was a big signing,and all the hype ,and shirt sales etc gives hope for better things to come.Then it all goes pear shaped.As a supporter its dead disappointing.I feel the same over Longy.Although a different situation ,I was "over the moon" when we signed him,and it hasn`t worked out as expected.
The best thing for us supporters is to put it down to experience.

I think rovers are to blame for bringing him over in the first place on the wrong passport I could see they're reasons for doing it tho, and a lot of people prob would change jobs for 3 times the amount ov money I just don't think Mason was totally innocent in all of this, he was gonna jump ship even with his passport an opportunity came along he has took it.

Sports and players registrations are different. He cannot look for a new job without the authority of the club who he is contracted to. He is allowed to move but has to have permission. I Know Willie Mason from his time here and he knows he is in the wrong and he also regrets his actions but he and the club are happy as Rovers will recieve a lump of money from France that will make it quite a profitable deal after all.

Willie is a nice guy but he sometimes does not think before he acts. Wish him well with his move.
