I like Scott Murrell but i think that it is pretty much nailed on that Dave Peterson will take over his role next season. Has played 6 and 13 for Workington this season and also had short spells at 9 whilst playing for our 20s last season. Sandercock really rates him.

he's been a great servant has scotty but he's as good as he's ever going to be and has slipped down the pecking order to become a squad player. Peterson on the other hand is a young lad with a lot of potential, it'll be a shame to see scotty go but sometimes you've just got to take a chance on a player to improve overall.

I thought Jason Netherton had another year on his deal? The club won't let him leave now anyway, not after his best ever game in a Rovers shirt, he even broke a tackle against Hudds.

Time for Murrell to go i think. Great for a crowd lifting hit, or the odd 40/20 but his lack of pace and mobility really shows now.

On a seperate note, anyone got any ideas on how Jordan Cox is getting on injury wise?

Early on in the season when we were missing Green, Galea etc, Scott was our best player, and I can't remember him missing a game this year. Sandy doesn't seem to hang about if he doesn't think someones face fits, as in Scott Wheldon, I would be surprised if Murrell was let go.

So that's eight players I'd replace with one already gone making 9 players going out the squad. If we can replace that spare cap space with a couple of quality backs and another hard hitting forward then we would have the makings of a cracking side.

All go last year so it comes down to our financial position and how much salary cap the board want to use and give to Craig Sandercock to play with. Don't see why we can't be 500k below the cap at the seasons end.

Agree with that mate, he's good to have in the squad, cheap, versatile, he's no world beater but pretty reliable.

What is your point, Easty? You've already stated 8 are coming in. What are your assumptions on their salary levels vs the bit part players you are proposing to bin off (Clinton excepted)?

I would think Nevo would be on a fair bit more than 35K, certainly more than Wheeldon and at least as much as Watts (if the 50K is anywhere near right).

The comment about 8 players coming in was initially made about two months ago. I'm pretty sure all these things are subject to change and with the squad hitting some form I'm guessing players which where rumoured to be going earlier in the season may yet be offered deals to stay.

OK. You've said it's 11 out, 8 in. You're now backtracking a bit, fair enough, but still proposing 9 out and a reduction in salary expenditure. My point is that Paea will not be on peanuts, on your other board Sandercock's talked of referencing a big signing and there's plenty of Newcastle Knights players being discusssed. I'm just trying to reconcile the net year on year position in terms of players and your view that there will be a cash saving if,say, 6 come in.

LOL your so full of it's unreal. OFC We'll have a reduction in salary expenditure at the end of the season, Problem is this will be taken up by any new players coming into the club. Why do you always have to try and twist every post to suit your own agenda? I don't think we'll have any savings on the contrary I'm hoping we spend the full cap which I don't think we are doing this season.
