There is a draw for the Challenge Cup semi finals, whereas the Super League semi finals are seeded.

Yes, Hull finished 12th and never made the playoffs. Rovers did but their early exit meant they failed to make the final stages, i.e. the final 4. What is so difficult to understand about that?

Yes Sts finished top yet lost the GF but the yearbooks show they finished top of the table.

The Wakey fans had great delight in pointing out that they finished above us by virtue of winning the playoff game between us. They went so far as to get emails from both the RFL and SL confirming that final placings are decided AFTER the playoffs and not before. The league table isn't updated because it only covers the weekly rounds.

Now, you might think that this is all meaningless semantics anyway, but there is an important consequence. The prize monies that get divided up between the playoff teams is figured on finishing position after the playoff and not the weekly rounds. So Rovers will have received the money for a 6th place finish rather than a 4th place finish.

It's not a system I particularly agree with, and it's hardly intuitive, but it's the system followed by the RFL and SL. Feel free to check with them.

I'm perfectly chilled, cheers. I was just providing some detail on the issue as I couldn't see a proper explanation elsewhere on the thread. It's not as if there's a great deal of difference between finishing 4th or 6th anyway in terms of prestige.
