| Quote: Mild Rover "Ohhh the bitter fruits of those long-term plans, eh?
We are still a very good team, unfortunately that is still by Championship standards.
Shut up you.
Tbf, we’re no worse off league points wise than I expected this morning, but playing against 12 for so long gave us a shot, and the failure to take it probably reflects how far off the pace we are (not trying to take anything away from Hull). I’m not angry or even especially frustrated - I feel sorry for them as much as anything. Maybe they’d prefer anger to pity? I dunno.
Post-derby probably isn’t a good time from strategising. See how we get on versus Wigan, and then more crucially versus Widnes. After that, nearly two fifths through the first 23 rounds, will be a decent time for the club to take stock. It’ll be tough to strengthen, offering the prospect of the middle 8s again, that’s for sure.'"
Personally I don't think you'll do half bad against Wigan. Wane seems to like to rest a few on Easter Monday, and after today I don't think Sheens will bother resting any. If you get Lunt and Mcguire on the pitch I'm gonna put a few pound on a Rovers win.

Evens with the start we’ll get after today, might be a decent bet. I wouldn’t take us from scratch unless the odds were very good.
I’m going to try not to get carried away, same as following the defeat vs Catalans or the win at Hudds. After 8 games, the pre-season suspicion that we hadn’t been able to strengthen enough looks fairly well founded. It is what it is - we had to build a team to get us out of the Championship, and that was exactly the sensible thing to do, and we now have to face consequences like today.

You just simply can't judge Hull's performance today as poor. As I've said on the hull forum, with 12 men we were never going to score 8 trys, and we were never going to concede only 1/2.
You're trying to make Hull out as an awful team, but man, we beat you with 12 men for 70 minutes.
You claim we're shafted without Watts (despite winning both games since he's left the club) but you're shafted WITH Masoe. He's a terrible player. Minimal carries, minimal yards, tons of errors.

| Disappointing not to have won with extra man .Atkin tried hard probably too hard? Marsh was on a hiding to nothing but was anonymous Lee at hooker was slow predictable and just not good enough.Marsh will get pelters, maybe rightly but Lee was ponderous. Masoe Greenwood Jewitt Carney Atkin Minns tried. Kavanagh Donno and Clarkson were poor.No brains no real power beaten by 12 who were just more professional. Very poor feeling as a fan today. Can live with losing a Derby but that was a really bad way to lose.. Throw kids in v Wigan and concentrate on Wid game.We are now (and probably always were) in a mini league of 5..

| Easy win really, even under the circumstances of having to play with 12 men for 71 minutes away from home.

| Didn't enjoy the result, but enjoyed the game. Don,t agree with some who say we are a poor team, but we are (I think) three players of higher quality short, but don,t have cover for half back when our first choices get injured and what we have is not up to it and it shows big time. We might have had 13 on the pitch but one or two were anonymous and made virtually no impact.
With Lunt, McGuire and others missing we are not going to win many. This needs addressing sooner rather than later before losing becomes a habit and expected.
Be interesting to watch it back and see why we had two disallowed and they didn't. if they were correct then so be it, but with my biased head on we always seem to get shafted by the VR, but I am biased.
The crowd were good today, hope they stick with it and back the team all season.

WUM. It was far from easy but I can't deny you deserved it.This is the difference between both sets of fans. Rovers were not good enough to beat 12 men and we can lament no Lunt mcg etc but more than enough ball for KR to win that.Sometimes however distasteful you have to as a fan just say best team won.Too many times losing side fans say 2 poor teams but facts are 12 men for 70 odd mins we could not beat.Bad ...

But it was easy, 12-men for 71 minutes, simple rugby for the most part, decent kicking game, still managed to create a couple of huge overlaps. Except for some extra graft in defence, we didn’t really have to do too much to beat you.

To me that is why we are a team that at SL level will struggle. If we say a typical/average team can field, at full strength, 5 very good players, 6 good ones and fill the 6 remaining spots with reasonable squad players, we’re more like 3, 4 and 10. Chuck in a couple of injuries to our best seven and we’ll struggle most weeks.
There’s no single, simple solution. The player market means we’re unlikely to see a round of recruitment like that ahead of 2008 for a long-time, when the move away from relegation no doubt helped too. Bringing kids through helps, but offers most benefit to the wealthier, stronger clubs who are better placed to retain the best of them.
The two routes I see out of the cycle (excluding relegation and significant restructuring, or a big pile of new cash) are 1) to try to sign a talismanic marquee player who can change the perception of the club - it could go wrong in a Willie Mason stylee, but everything carries an element of risk, and/or 2) Hope for a change in the competition structure that suits us. Hard work will be needed, of course, but it feels like we need something as an inflexion point.
Abandoning the lightweight and mobile approach would be welcome, at some point too, imo.

We won a super league game playing with 12 men for 72 minutes. I am not sure how many times I have witnessed that it my life but not many. Something for sure to crow about imo
