You obviously weren't at the match mate as there was no deliberate stray boot. First 10 secs of match for you as this is what you're getting...solid hard running big aggressive prop.

I was at the game, although the view from the side terrace we were forced to watch from wasn't ideal, however the game was televised. You may have noticed that I didn't use the word deliberate. Just a small, but significant point.

| You've got a good no nonsense prop who ran the ball in very hard and Withers got in the way. I was stood in that corner and it was a brave effort of Withers but Poore was going at a rate of knots....he'll give you real go forward. Just hope we can afford a cheap replacement at WTW who can carry on from where he left off but not give the penalties that he did sometimes.

Indeed.
We've just seen no less than SEVEN overseas players LEAVE from last seasons squad.
All good experienced players too.
I'm sure the critics would love us to replace what is half a team with untried kids but no thanks we 'd rather not be involved in a bottom 2 relegation dogfight thank you. And we are not going to be.
And congratulations to exciting products Josh Guzdek and Connor Robinson who will join the first team squad for 2014. We'll promote anyone who is good enough and these kids are.
Wakefield sold Cumbrian prop Kyle Amor to Saints for £50k a figure we matched but were unsuccessful. Now we have taken State of Origin player Justin Poore off them instead for no fee at all.
We wouldn't have needed either of them if HKR product Scott Taylor hadn't been enticed away by a richer club in Wigan despite a very big offer to keep him.
So it was 1st choice local lad Taylor, 2nd choice Cumbrian Amor and third choice State of Origin player Poore. Strangely the cheapest and in the end the only one available to us was Poore. Who arguably is the best player of the lot and unquestionably the one with the most runs on the board.
What is it with Hull KR and overseas players? Answers on a postcard.

Poore cheap? you've seen the KR contract he's on then? He was definitely on a lot more than Amor at Wakefield. Signing fee and contract sizes need to be both looked at as no signing fee doesn't always equate with 'cheapest' overall deal. He was the WTW marquee signing last season and a surprise that he'd come to a small club. Rumour of 100k per year. Good prop though as is Amor.

Poore is on a very good deal at Rovers of course he is, matching his wages at Wakefield which they couldn't afford.
But a transfer fee of nothing is definitely cheap compared to Taylor £100k and Amor £50k. Poore is on a 2 year deal so it's almost like year one is free.
Which in any case ignores my point that he was the only one of the 3 willing to sign for Rovers. If Taylor had signed we wouldn't have bid for Amor and if Amor had signed we wouldn't have bid for Poore.
So when eventually third choice Poore signs I think it is valid for me to counter the question 'what is it with Hull KR & overseas players'.

seven overseas players left then replaced with more overseas players, not the way forward im afraid. Your setup is all wrong for the game. Thought we had moved on from reliance of overseas players but at hull kr it seems not

Oh my poor, sweet, innocent summer child.
What happened was that the RFL convinced themselves, and many RL fans, that it was a demand-side problem and that their protectionist measure would mean that the significant amount of homegrown talent that they believed was going to waste would fill the void.
Actually, as the 2008 and Crusaders exemptions unwound (and a good number of our players started to give the NRL or even the Queensland Cup a shot) clubs discovered that they were just paying more for the same British players, and it was really mainly a supply-side problem, the untapped reserves of talent mainly a myth.
That is why it seems the non-fed limit is going up to 7.
But we do need to do better if we're to progress, in terms of vacuuming up more of the available young talent from the shallow pool, ahead of our competitors, and in developing it. And if we do better we'll have more chance of retaining our best products.

FFS, can you read? I think His Bobness has explained this situation very well and in relatively simple terms that most should be able to understand. We have signed the best players we were able to attract. Also we have approximately of 13 players in our first team squad next season who were born in Hull. I wonder how many other SL clubs can match that figure?

You made more than one point and it was the cheap assumption that was interesting if looked into further as I think it can be misleading...
I agree Taylor no doubt would be on a big contract aswell as large signing on fee and wants to be at a top 5 club as does Amor as rugby careers are so short. Hull KR aren't top 5 at the moment.
Poore was possibly on 100k per year at Wakefield whereas Amor was closer to 60k per year as an estimate.
If we take these figures for a 2 year contract Poore would cost a club about 200k over the 2 years with no signing fee whereas Amor would be 120k for the 2 year contract and 50k signing on fee which leaves a total cost of 170k, 30k cheaper than Poore.
Don't assume Poore is on a cheaper total deal than Amor and other contract issues haven't also been equated such as paid flights to/from Aus, relocation costs etc...

I think Amors stock has risen a lot from when he signed for you to when he left you he will be on a lot more than 60 grand now I think

| regarding our lack of local youngsters, we're still a long way off the top side's when it comes to producing them, but where still many years behind the top sides in terms of how long there youth structures have been in place. hopefully we'll keep making improvements and see more top youngsters coming through soon enough.
