JM will wait until the end of the year lose Jake Webster and use the money saved from losing Cooke and Webster to bring in anothr Aussie...

He could of reported Paul Cooke to the RFL for making an illegal approach, then there's the debt, then the filing of late accounts which is nothing but lazy.

Most Rovers fans saw it coming a mile off and wish Paul Cooke all the best in his future career, this didn't happen when he left your club now did it?

At the time we where all very happy to have signed Cooke and possibly gloted the he had joined OUR club from yours, I just find the fact that the player currently has no connection to your club and you are gloating that he has signed for Wakefield a little strange

Would you agree that Cooke played the majority of his career at Hull FC and was a key player in winning the only major trophy on either side for 25+ years? And crossed this city in rather shabby circumstances? Not unreasonable for some of us to be interested in this latest turn of events, particularly after such outright condemnation of rumours of unrest between Cooke and Morgan as complete fabrication. And, as stated, FC fans outnumber Rovers fans, end of.

It has been an entertaining, if often distracting, sideshow. I certainly wouldn't say it has been regrettable - if I could go back in time and stop it happening, on the premise that we'd still maybe have had enough to get above Salford in 2007, I honestly wouldn't take that risk. I'm happy with how things turned out. That said, and despite some headline grabbing displays, the endless rumours and his tendency to drift/be pushed to the periphery of play mean that I don't regret his leaving as much as I would if it had been an unequivocal success. He came at a time when we needed quality and when it really mattered he delivered it - he just hasn't continued to deliver it consistently. Kear might be the man to get the best out of him again.




Upton Cat and the Hull Daily Mail will have a lot to answer for if he is the Rovers 19 at 2pm tomorrow.

I honestly do not believe that the way in which Cooke left Hull F.C will ever be repeated by any other player, the management at Hull F.C where 100% to blame form him wanting to leave and then leaving. If Dobson won us the Challenge cup and got us to a GF, i'd class him a modern day Rovers legend and if after he had achieved that I would wish him all the best

I'd be delighted we had won the Challenge Cup, firstly and that would be my abiding memory I'd hope. I'd regret his departure and question the competence of our board in failing to get a contract signed. I'd appreciate that professional sportsmen are motivated by cash. I'd remember that it had happened the other way, albeit in a desperate situation of existential proportions for Rovers, and realise that we couldn't therefore really complain. The difference is that we don't regard it as inconceivable that one of our players might choose to join you for something as base as money. Nor do we regard you as inferior, despicable lower division fodder, on a one year tourist trip to SL, so it wouldn't be such a blow to our prestige and sense of superiority.

Is there a chance (don't jump on my back) that you HAVE had to move cookie on to accomodate Clinton as it's a strange coincidence that since he signed Cookie has been nowhere near the team, also there are ways and means to work this around a live salary cap. MY thought train is that neither club has comfirmed yet Cookie thinks it's happening, is the stumbling block that Rovers don't want him to play yet need to move him on by the end of the week for cap reasons and Wakey know this so are using it against Rovers? there 6 is injured after all.

I honestly think the cap thing is likely to be a red herring. If we have backloaded Clinton's deal this may allow us to rejig things, but that is all IMO. I like conspiracy theories, but I don't generally believe them.
Whether he plays or not - it depends on a few things. Whether Kear would throw him straight in with no practice and lots of emotion for one. How many injuries they have would be another. How much of his wage Rovers are paying and whether we are so desperate to get shot that we don't have much of a bargaining position is the big one. There has to be a point at which the deal is unattractive - just depends whether there any circumstances under which Morgan would ever pick him, or whether he'd consider Crusaders (for example).
