The problem the area has is that it's reputation precedes it. People that have never been (or haven't been for a long time) like to mock the area and put it down. But you are proof that if we can get people to visit once, they will see what a little gem it is and will want to come back. Next year should go along way towards changing reputations if we do things right.'"
Just a footnote to my opening post:-
We thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days in Hull. We actually got parked at the stadium - just as well, given the awful weather!
The barriers in the centre are a pain, but all should be worthwhile in the end, and will enhance some superb architecture. The old town is delightful, the area around the waterfront and marina is superb, and the (free) museums look good. (we spent a morning in the superb maritime Museum in the centre)
An added bonus was the Freedom Festival - an annual event, with multiple acts - that just happened to be on, at the time of our visit.
Oh, and the rugby match was brilliant!!
We got to spend some quality time in the midst of some great company, in the Roger Millward stand.
