According to Neil Hudgell's on tonight's Sportstalk on RH, we have space under the cap at the mo and are still looking at signing at least another 2 quality forwards, subject to affordability and availability. He specifically mentioned prop and back row as consensus priority and the need for greater grunt and size up front.

Don't think he'd improve us much. As some have already said, he hasn't done much for 3 years and seems to be injure a lot.

The fact that Tyrone McCarthy can get a NRL gig shows the shortage of forwards,
Kirmond still has a lot to offer a change of scenery and a new challenge would reignite him imo

Maybe so. The year he was named in the Dream Team he was absolute class, but hasn't got near that since. A full pre season would do him good.

If he's been that bad for 3 years, why is he still under contract?

I believe he is out of contact in 2016, so if he' been as bad a some seem to be suggesting over the last 3 years then perhaps that will be reflected by a decision by Wakefield not offer him a new one. I don't know whether they have or not.

I believe NH stated on radio the club were after another prop and a second row. It's been rumoured that Mulhearn from Leeds could be a loan signing for 2016 and with JP here believe that carries credibility. The second row we are supposedly after, I haven't a clue but unless we get a Danny Kirmond of two or three years ago then no thanks.

Despite his form, he still is a fans favourite for many. His willingness to play on through injury gives him some kind of cult status, although it's not uncommon to see him down getting treatment 3/4 times per game. And I also think the club are clinging to the hope that he regains the form of 2012.

If he got rid of that ridiculous beard, he wouldn't fall over so much.

On the trust widnes forum,they couldn't believe he had been given a 2yr deal by betts from 2015,and he finished on loan most of the season at wakey.Judging by the widnes fans,not what we want.

Didn't get much of a look in at Wakey either, there must be someone up and coming in the championship worth a punt instead.

There was a lad who had a loan spell with Cas a while back, possibly from Wigan. Played well on Sky in a game I saw. But a wiki wander tells me he was Ben Davies, not this lad Kavanagh.
And Davies career hasn't exactly taken off. One good game on Sky maybe isn't a compelling reason to sign a player, in fairness.
