| Just found a thread on a Haven MB, that suggests our dual reg players will be available to play on Sunday (whilst there's aren't - good, no Kyle Amor )
The fact that Walker has made the senior squad at Wigan recently would mean it a bit of a shock if they allowed him to be cup tied.
Any of our Wigan contingent know if this is the case?

| to the best of my knowledge dual registration players are only allowed to represent their parent club in the challenge cup as essentially the two teams are in the same competition and you cannot be registered to play for two clubs in the same competition. loan players would be allowed to play if the terms of their loan stipulated but then would become 'cup-tied' for the parent club if they returned.
like i say, to the best of my knowledge...i am no authority on these things but everything i have read agrees with what i said and anyone i've asked who seems more educated on these matters confirmed my thoughts.
as you say, jonny walker is in the wigan squad anyway. and it probably damaging haven more as veivers and marsh are already proving important to them by reports i've read whereas we are just losing a prop and fairclough could come in and do a job i suspect, and our strengths are outwide anyway

| Thanks Markill. I suspect that's correct re the dual reg, thought it odd.
I presume when you say Fairclough could come in for Holland, you mean Fairhurst? I did hear a rumour he may have left the club, hope I'm wrong as he's a more than able player. We've also Paul Alcock who could come back into the squad
The 'Haven board that gets plenty of use ishttp://www.havenfans.co.uk/rl
Watching their game v Barrow the other week the thing that strikes you about them is what a huge, musclebound bunch they are, too much dodgy quack bull serum .
They ain't quick though, (Calvert apart), if we can keep the ball moving I fancy we can turn them over. If we get into an arm wrestle though there'll only be one winner.
Really hope we can turn 'em over though, we desperately need a good pay day in the next round.
Good luck lads.

| yeah i meant fairhurst! ha. he played against skolars and that was only a couple of weeks ago. i hope he hasn't gone, that'd be the only drawback from having holland on dual reg.
where do you hear these rumours anyway? ha. the club gets no press, the players don't live / train / socialise round these parts much...

| Talking to someone at the York game, seemingly he wasn't best pleased at being left out of the 17 after playing at Skolars.
This is one downside of the dual reg system, especially when we don't have a reserve team to keep people playing.
Means to an end I suppose; it's obvious it's Championship or bust at Panthers this season and there will always be the odd casualty in the desperation to escape the slowly rotting corpse that is Championship 1.
Agree with you re communication though, although it's improved a smidge, it's still light years behind what most other pro clubs get.
There should be snippets on the website at least once a week if not more. Even if it just says "no-one's injured, all is well"!
This is one of many reasons why, depsite the great RL we're playing and the results, the crowds are still poor.
Good comms and publicity (plus hopefully a return to Blackpool) are the key

| The promotion of games is coming on leaps and bounds. The blackboards outside St Annes WMC and Waterloo Social Club say that our next home game is Doncaster a week on Sunday.

| In Saturday's Gazette MC is quoted as saying that Holland can play...hope we've got the rules sorted, it wouldn't be good to be thrown out for playing an ineligable!
Or have we signed him on amd he's no longer dual reg'd

| it depends on club dispensation, if the parent club allow them to play then they can do it is entirely up to them.

| I assume though that any player can only play for one club in the competition each season though, in other words, Holland is now cuptied should Wigan need him later on?

| That's the way I read it in League press this am. Wigan asked that Walker doesn't play but that Holland can. MC says that Walker is now available again for Friday against Donny.

| That's good news for Friday, although it'd be tough to leave anyone out after that effort on Sunday. Wonder if he might decide to give Anderson, Halliwell, McCully or Hobson a well earned breather?
Strange old feeling to have selection headaches like this for a Blackpool fan

| i'd leave mccully or halliwell out. they were relatively poor in what was otherwise a great all round effort i thought

I wouldn't leave McCully out, thought he did a lot of the un-noticed stuff very well.
As I said before though, what a dilemma to have
