I think we've got to remember we weren't good enough last season by quite a considerable margin. 2017 is going to be even tougher. We need to keep the very best players from 2016 and recruit a significant number of players who are better than the ones we had, or else we'll be going nowhere.

S/O is right - size matters. Players giving 100% effort is great (and I commend the players for their efforts) but unless you're physically big enough or strong enough, effort alone doesn't win matches.

Unless we sign at least 4 more quality players, preferably with some experience, I think we could be looking at a finish between 4th and 8th again.

I think a top 6 spot is being optimistic on who has been signed, 1 player who spent much of last season on loan here and 1 player from keighley isn't going to make the side into promotion material but what do I know

There is a way to go yet with the recruitment, but surely it would be inconceivable that with the rugby knowledge of Thornton, Green, Hall and Co., we could make the same mistake as last season.
We weren't exactly the world's worst in attack, but we were one of the worst in defence.
We were shipping the order of 25+ points on average every game, better against teams below us and worse against top sides.
THAT is what needs to be addressed and thus far it HASN'T.
Our back line is as yet unchanged.
