| The club has come up with a very innovative idea for our home game against Rochdale.
rlhttps://www.doncasterrugbyleague.co.uk/article/37475/the--attendance-challengerl
Whoever came up with this idea needs a serious pat on their back.
I hope the initiative works and those that attend on the day like what they see and want to come back for more.
Foresight such as this is what we need if we're ever going to get promoted again or bring in sufficient revenues to be competing for honours in the league we're in now.

| Really great and original idea. Let's hope we see an improvement in the crowd.

| Another initiative fails to inspire the Doncaster public. The attendance of 600 for the game was poor.
Many thanks should go to Kingfisher Primary School for their efforts in trying to boost the crowd. I hope there is a longer lasting legacy in crowd improvements based on the back of all their work.
The bottom line seems to be that the players never let the fans down, the loyal fans never let the players down, but the people of Doncaster don't seem to have it in them to support the club.
It's a shame and must be totally soul-destroying to all at the club who work so hard to boost numbers.
Personally, I feel embarrassed that the town lets the club down.
I doubt that Carl Hall's promise to refund anyone's money was taken up as the Rochdale game was a good one to watch with a favourable result.
I'm coming round to the way of thinking that the only way to boost attendances is to actually pay people to turn up, rather than charge them for attending!
We all need to keep chipping away to spread the word that watching the Dons is a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon. We might get there eventually!

| The club needs to find some way of asking the public of Doncaster why they don't support the team & also ask the stay away fans why they have stopped coming to the home games. Hopefully they may get some answers that will help them to increase the fan base.

| The Kingfisher initiative was probably geared around attracting new people to the game, rather than getting old fans back.
I agree with Geoff that we need to try to find out why the old fans don't come anymore. There will probably be some things that can be done to help get them back but I fear there are many things we can't do anything about.
We can't move the Keepmoat to Bentley, we can't shoot everyone at the RFL, bring back proper scrums, or return to winter rugby.
I suspect prices and transport are two of the main issues. The club can't drop prices to silly levels but maybe something can be done on the transport front. I have a car, and don't drink, but the thought of buses to the Keepmoat on a Sunday doesn't fill me full of glee and excitement.

| I agree with DM, it is embarrassing that the Doncaster people let the
club down.
But it is the new young fans we need to attract,.
Well done to Kingfisher primary school for there efforts, hope it does not
discourage them.

| Ive been looking round at last few home games and weve missed a generation of supporters now i know it maybe down to glory to bust scenario over past how ever many years but our clubs missed out and the dons faithful arnt getting any younger so i fear in afew year crowds will be even lower!
Weve got 7 weeks till schools break up why dont we for each home game pick 10 alternate schools and give them 25/50 free tickets if no one comes then nothing ventured nothing gained but if 10 kids come and bring a parent then its 10 extra adults paying! Also the 10 might like it and come again then. I know in the past weve give tickets out and had more freebies than paying supporters but im thinking get as many kids from 8/16 year olds as we can because once they get the buzz of rugby league thats when crowds will grow. Weve got amatuer clubs in area give all there juniors free tickets before they drift off watch rhinos or wakey or who ever? Its got to be worth a try from now till end of season if it only costs us price of printing tickets its got to be worth it

| Anything that doesn't cost money has got to be worth a go.
I think we tried the free ticket route in the John Wright days and it didn't particularly do all that well.
I suspect that most people might give something a go for nothing, but are reluctant to fork out cash in the future.
If we never get them down to watch matches, we can never convert them to be fans of the future, so giving the tickets away to schools has my full support.
The attendance challenge is certainly the biggest one as far as creating a sustainable club for the future is concerned. If we want to grow and get bigger as a club, we've got to improve the attendances considerably.
The aim of 2,000 is a good one, although getting to 1,000 seems like a huge mountain for us at the moment.
I was reading about this One Direction chap allegedly wanting to get involved in the club. If he did, the easiest way to boost attendances would be to get him to come and perform a few songs at half-time at a Rovers and Dons game. That would get the kids down!
