Doncaster Rugby League Club is very pleased to announce that the club’s current skipper, Kyle Kesik, is the latest player to sign on the dotted line for the 2014 season.

The 24 year-old is the Dons longest serving player in Tony Miller’s squad and joined from local rivals Sheffield Eagles back in 2009. Kesik made his debut away at Batley just over four years ago and has gone on to make 96 appearances for the club.

The tough-tackling hooker, who can play in a number of other key positions, missed the majority of June this season after picking up a knee injury against York City Knights in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Kesik has crossed the whitewash five times thus far this season and joins the likes of Mike Emmett, Mark Castle, Brett Waller, Matt Carbutt and Russ Spiers who have pledged their immediate futures to the club.

Dons’ head coach Miller said: “Kyle is a hard working, no nonsense type of player who gives 110 per cent week in, week out.

“He’s been a reliable player at the club over the last four years and more than deserves his new contract. I’m really pleased for him.”

Paul Cooke, who will be the Dons new head coach in 2014, commented: “Kyle is an integral part of the club’s future and I’m delighted that he’ll be playing for us next season.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve and puts his body on the line every time he puts on a Dons shirt and this is why he’s become a firm favourite on the terraces.

“He’s also well respected at the club and has established himself as a tough and consistent performer in the Championship.”
