Doncaster Rugby League Club is delighted to announce that they have joined up with the Balby Academy of Sport to create an under 18's side.
The new team will effectively become the club's second team and will be called the ‘Balby Dons' who will be based at the sports college. The playing squad will train and play within the college's excellent sports facilities and the Dons team of coaches will provide first class training.
The Dons already has a strong link with the college through their successful rugby league academy programme which provides the combination of education and the development of performance in the sport.
The academy was originally set up to produce the best rugby league players from Doncaster and the South Yorkshire area who could eventually progress to play for the Dons. The same will be applied to the under 18's as Dons' head coach Tony Miller explains
this is excellent news something we have been missing over the last few years, hopefully see some donny lads come through into the first team in the next few years
