The administrator of Bradford Bulls has revealed he is considering an offer from Super League (Europe) (SLE) to buy the club.

Brendan Guilfoyle, partner at The P&A Partnership and administrator at the Bradford Bulls, is weighing up an offer for the club from SLE, the business behind the league Bradford Bulls currently competes in.

"It was totally unexpected and is completely unprecedented, but a brilliant development," said Guilfoyle. "If the deal goes ahead then the Bradford Bulls will become the first club ever to be owned by the Super League clubs themselves.

"The administrators are considering the offer today and will be working closely with SLE and the RFL to reach a speedy conclusion. SLE and the RFL would continue to run the club as a going concern."

SLE said it had taken "decisive action" to secure the future of Bradford Bulls by tabling an offer on behalf of the Super League clubs.

The offer was submitted to the administrator last night (1 August 2012) after Super League chief executive Nigel Wood and the Super League clubs put together a rescue package.

SLE said it now believes the offer represents the best solution to a problem that "is threatening the survival of one of Rugby League’s most celebrated clubs and which remains the source of considerable uncertainty and disquiet across the whole sport".

Earlier this week, a second conditional bid for the Bulls by the ABC consortium had been rejected by the Rugby Football League (RFL).

The RFL has written to the consortium informing them that the nature of their offer remains unacceptable.

I don't think they had much choice. I'm sure this will only be a temporary measure to buy time and save the Bulls from liquidation. I'm sure that by the beginning of next season they will have new owners. All of the SL clubs voted for this. I think people should calm down and look at the bigger picture. If the Bulls had gone i'm sure that within the next twelve months others would have followed and i don't think that RL is in a position to lose ten thousand fans.

Why do Bradford Bulls think they have the devine right to be saved? It is not the first time in the history of Bradford rugby league that others have stepped in to save them. It happened in the 1950's.

Why did the RFL not step in to save Wakefield last season or even Crusaders?

Why would a SuperLeague side have a priority over a championship side?

I think the real reason is that Nigel Wood has realised he has made another shocking business decision in buying Odsal, and if the Bulls do bust the RFL gets no income. So a waste of a seven figure sum. Once again ineptitude.

All of the SL clubs voted for this so why don't you ask their chairmen?
By the begining of next season, if not before they will have been sold on. watch this space...

This is quite frankly a repulsive and disgusting decision. As has been said why should Bradford be treated any different to any other club. Clubs have gone belly up in the past and were forced to deal with it themselves. We have as have Crusaders. Aside from that one of the key arguments for the franchise system was that it would lead to better financial stability for clubs as having your finances in order is supposedly one of the important factors in obtaining and keeping a super league licence. Thank you RFL for showing us what a sham this really is and for once again reminding us all that its just a case of 'if your face fits'.
