This forum is going to be buzzing tonight when folk get home from work.
I don't think folk should start falling out between themselves....but probably that's where it will end.
Two camps...the optimists and the pessimists.
How can you be optimistic?

What is the point of running a club the way we are?....the crowds will only fall and it will get worse.
If this is running a club within budget....then what will we have left entertaining to watch?

The crowds will fall slightly but then again there will always be the die hard fans who turn up and have turned up through thin and thinner,got to agreed with Jemmo we've known far worse than this and survived to tell the tale and so we will again.So what ,we go down who gives a providing we still have a team (whoever is playing ) in Doncaster.

Don't think there'll be many optimists to be arguing with to be honest

At least when we were in Div2 we had a good team.....I don't think that will be the case next year.....it will be more of the same.

TBH I've always thought that level should only be Pay as you Play

The majority of the optomist have also become disgruntled with the never ending cycle of boom and bust tho this time there has been no boom.

We were told we were spending within budget and we'd be competative both it appears are now untrue I think thats what rankles most people.

Its the same story and has been for many a year, the appointment of a new commercial manager seems a little after the horse has bolted and could also pave the way for the departure of Andreas from the club.

The club needs some decent financial investment not an advisory board, teams such as Sheffield, York, Rochdale, Batley, Oldham all manage to survive without this cycle of doom. And are almost always competative on the pitch and when not actively do something about it rather than just sit on there hands.

Was speaking to a bloke the other day who has been at the top with a club and he put a very good point across about all players outside of super league being on "pay as you play" terms instead of contracts,it would help the clubs out no end,granted some clubs would be paying more than others but thats how it is now.At least it would be a more level playing field as lower clubs would be able to attract lads that are not getting into other sides.

I agree should be Pay as you play with incentives for winning and draws, minimum pay for a loss.

It will never happen tho the clubs with money will just offer higher match payments all will get all the best players there is little loyality in sport, You cannot blame the players its a short career and im sure we'd all move jobs if someone offered us more money for the same job.

After all the joy of promotion, i personally feel that we should have stayed in the old division and not take the promotion.

I think you're being harsh on Batley. One of the best results / performances of their season in their last league game against Leigh (Sundays Cup-tie irrelevant) and they've just snapped up an experienced half-back ... wish I could remember his name

Personally it would suprise me if Batley finish below Gateshead come the end of the season.

But you don't lose by many, even against SL sides so a win can't be very far away.

I agree, some people (if they haven't already) will just get fed up of the financial rollercoaster-ride.

Just so you know Halifax operate on a pay as you play system but do offer generous win bonus.

Excuse my ignorance as I really don't know but how come your club is offloading players all of a sudden? I thought you had yoursleves on an even keel again now? Was your chairman not even speaking about applying for SL??

the club seems to have lost its way, this started in march when it started losing its better scholarship players, now first team team players , hard times ahead and applying for super league only a dream

Batley Bulldogs are pleased to announce that after lengthy discussions last night (Monday) Karl Harrison will stay on as coach until the end of the season.

Why am I not in the least surprised this is happening? We've been inept and dull for 90 % of the season. You can't expect people to watch tosh week in and week out and I really do envy the diehards, but the standard of rugby we have had dished up to us this season has been enough to cure even the most hardened insomniac. I believe a lot of this started last season when we paid for glory but have suffered long term.Players have and will always jump ship when it is getting battered and income is low.Remember Craig Weston etc.It is a fact of life with struggling clubs

Yeah, I remember Craig Weston, he was still here for weeks after many other high-salaried players had gone and as the senior man was asked by the remaining players to talk to the then Coach about team selection / tactics etc. The Chairman backed the Coach (not surprisingly) over the disagreement and Weston was out (although by then I'd be surprised if he wasn't relieved).

A solvency practitioner that I know said that you can always tell when a company is about to crumble when they errect a flagpole outside HQ. I think the equivalent in RL circles is a CC club talking about future entry to SL.
