A couple of Wire Fans i work with say there's rumours around the HJ that Chris Bridge is Widnes bound next year-a good addition to the squad?

Not the first time I've heard this one but it could very well be the same source.

According to the Wire site he is contracted to them until the end of 2015. Can't see Widnes paying a transfer fee for him.

He's not figuring much so warrington may agree to a release, Paul Prescott is also linked.

When his name was mentioned as a potential signing for 2014, my first thoughts were do we need him with Marsh and Phelps as our first choice centres and with Dean as a capable back up (and Hulme coming on but perhaps not ready yet). However he is a versatile player who can play in the halves or at loose forward, and a Club like us can do with that sort of versatility as injuries are part and parcel of the modern game.

He would bring bags of experience and no little skill, so having reflected and looked beyond centre, I think he would be a good addition. Paul Prescott I am not so sure about as he would be another signing with quite an injury record (but maybe he has been unlucky?). I suppose we have got to be realistic about the quality we can bring in, but I would see him as more a replacement for Davies than Cross!

Paul Prescott may have to retire.

If may have to retire then not a good move. There must be some decent Championship players.

One of the pluses with Bridge as well, is his place kicking. Not often he has missed.

If he does join us, presumably as a squad "fill-in" player rather than an automatic starter replacing Phelps / Marsh or Dean?

I wonder if he might be used at loose forward given the back row injuries we have had this year, a skilful and strong player may allow better cover with Tickle, Allen, Cahill, Winterstein (assuming he stays) and Leuluai covering the second row berths. Cahill may still be number 1 choice for 13, but he can play second row well enough should we be down on our starting pair (who I am assuming will be Allen and Tickle) he may make more impact in the second row with Bridge at 13.

All this assume that he comes to us of course!

he hasnt had much luck with injuries this season... however, when he is fit, he gets in the starting 13

that being said, i could see us moving him on.. we have a few good young players at centre, as well as ratchford and grix that can play there.

i could see it happening.

If Bridge is fit, he's first choice, i could only see us selling on if they think his long term fitness is an issue, in which case would you want to take him?

He's a good centre, deceptively quick, very strong, hard to put down, creates room for his winger and good hands.

Call me picky but I still think Marsh is our only 'good' centre (although he was terrible in defence on Sunday but possibly carrying an injury, as were others). Would go with Isa with Ah Van and maybe try Flynn on the other wing this week.
