| Thought it was an even game that just swung their way. No side ever really took charge but we are at home so should've rose to the challenge in the second half. Brown running at the line too often and some poor decisions by the backs in attacks from deep stopped us making more of our chances.
Was shocked at how many things Thaler missed. His positioning seemed good, he talked to the players effectively and kept the sides disciplined well. He's generally one of the better refs but missed a few decisions at the weekend that really swung the game at points. I'm all for trying two refs. One at the play the ball and one for the defensive line, with one if charge but the other there for a second opinion or flag a missed call.

| He missed a couple of knock ons which I think they may have scored at least try off. Ah Van made a break in the 1st half and passed the ball and it came off a wakey hand, an extra set of 6 may have enabled us to build a bit of pressure and when Hock capitalised on a wakey knock on and went down field but lost the ball. The scrum should have been awarded to us back to where the original knock on was. Thought Wakey played well and slowed us down but we failed to do that to them. We didn't play well but could have won the game if we shown a bit more composure.

| We lost it around the ruck, they were too quick for us in possession using their backs to carry it forward early in the tackle count. When they were defending they slowed every play of the ball just the right amount not to get penalised. When we tried the same we weren't subtle enough and it cost us. They were just a bit smarter than us.

Agreed, a few times I spotted their lads weren't square and we failed to notice so didn't run at em from the play the ball to grab a pen or cause a panic. Defo need to get smarter as you say Alex.

| Thoughts.......
Wakefield deserved the win, a little bit smarter around the ruck on the night, ref was wrong a couple of times but we cant do anything about it. Good effort by the team but we need to play smarter.

| I've been keeping an eye on the number of quick PTBs we are forcing and we are conceding this season. Our control of the ruck is absolutely shocking and we're not going to win many games until this happens. Betts has to address his players winning the floor both in attack and defence.
If you look at missed tackles alone - its not that bad.

| I hate admitting it but the best team won, as they did when we played Cas too. Its so frustrating because its two games that we could have won. We manage to be competitive and then just totally switch off.
Brown was trying too hard for me and his kicking wasn't up to scratch.
Its no good in beating Warrington and Hull then losing Cas and Wakefield. We'd be sat comfortably in 8th place now but think have seriously blown the opportunity to bridge the gap thats creating with the top 8.
With Saints injuries we have a chance tomorrow night but they still have some classy players and with our turn style defence it may be a tough game

Your turn style defence will be safe with our old slow creative deadend fullback at standoff
