Paul Cullen Leaves Widnes Vikings
Friday 5th October 2012
Paul Cullen Leaves Widnes Vikings Story in brief:
Paul Cullen Leaves Widnes Vikings
Paul Cullen has left the Widnes Vikings. Paul joined the club in March 2009 and has been an integral part of the evolution of the club and its transition into full time Super League rugby in his capacity as Head Coach and latterly as Director of Rugby.
Paul Cullen commented; "I have enjoyed my time at Widnes and the time is now right for me to move on. I hope I have played my part in a revolution and it is now time for the Vikings to evolve.
"I believe that my objectives have been met which were to win a trophy, win a licence, change from part time to full time professionalism and to deliver Super League to the supporters of the Widnes Vikings after 6 years in the Championship.
"There are exciting times and significant challenges ahead for Widnes and I wish all at the Vikings good luck for their future".
Chairman Steve O'Connor commented; "On behalf of the Board, Staff, Coaches, players and fans I wish to thank Paul for all his efforts at the club.
"He has made a significant contribution to the development of our club as we made the transition into a full time Super League organisation. We wish him the best of luck in his future career."

| I thank him for his time and efforts, I never really liked the concept of 'director of rugby' just let the coach and his assistants get on with it.

| He came to Widnes to get us into SL, job done, for which I thank him. Barrow were sweeping everyone before them at the time but PC brought in the right SL players on duel reg to win the final.
In his time with us he & his family had a major personal tradgey to cope with & are no doubt still having to deal with it. I can't imagine how this affected Paul!
IMO he had sufficent time to prove himself at Wire but could not move them to the next level, so Widnes did the right thing moving him upstairs. Though it is not a position I am a fan of.
I think PC leaving shows Widnes aspiritions to move on to playoff level & am very happy with this. I hope Paul's postion is now left vacant.
I wish Paul & his family future success & happiness in everything they do.
