Looking at the rumours on various message boards, it appears that Salford could well be going down the same road as Bradford.

I think we now have our answer - it appears that professional RL in this country is really struggling, not really surprising when you look at what has happened to the likes of Glasgow Rangers in Football.

There is something wrong when only clubs with benefactors have any chance of staying alive - sky money and gate receipts are no longer enough. Good sponsorship is thin on the ground.

I can't even think of how this can be turned around - a 12 team super league maybe? More money and players to go around?

I hope for the sake of the fans, the club and the wider RL family Salford are ok in the long run. The emotions I feel with every new bit of bad news surrounding Bradford recently is a mixture of sadness and anger. I hope they'll be ok too. Bad financial management aside, how can such a great game fail to market itself more successfully? I certainly don't have any magic formulas for success. But surely there must be some people with talent around the sport / RFL / clubs / ex-players who might have some of the answers? Rugby League can surely manage to have 14 decent full time professional teams in the top flight! As a starting point clubs should seek to get more fans and newbies through the gates and not accept the 'apathy' arguments or 'football' ones. There's nothing quite like being at a game. In my humble opinion, being sat at home watching games on the tv is a poor substitute.

Im quiet sure John Wilkinson will be there till the end this guys dug deep for years for his beloved club , to be honest i dont give a Damn about Bradford nobody wanted to help us when it happened to us no fundraising and handouts from other clubs or directors like steve o connor , they new when they signed Harris back from union that Leeds had first shout on him £500,000 thank you very much ! Id like to know when all the clubs reaplied for the licence they should have done the honourable thing like Crusaders and boud out of top flight and to start handing out 5 yr contracts is a disgrace and an insult knowing they couldnt pay staff coach and more important players wages !! like to know from the Rl who checked there books !!!
