| Says in the league express that we have the players lined up and are awaiting final clarification from the RFL. Seems odd to me as Fev and Haven have already announced dual signings so why the wait with us?
Apparently all 4 are very good players though, i would imagine McGillvary will be one along with possible Pryce from Wigan and Penny and one for second Row hopefully.
Not sure who will be kicking goals next year though...........
And Danny Hulme has been added to the first team squad (fully deserved)

| I thought you could only dual sign players from 1 club and not from a mixture ?

Not according to Terry Oconnor, we are signing players from Wigan/Wire/Saints.

I too wouldnt mind Blythe, i know some dont rate him but he would be a decent bet for Loose Forward/Second Row.

I think he will get a few first team runs with wire next season. He would be a great addition to the squad but it doesnt seem likely.

The ginger haired lad from wire is also good (mitchell i think) tbh wire have some good options in the pack.

| could someone explain the difference between a dual reg player and a team signing a player on loan who could be recalled by his parent club if needed as penny was when warrington had injury problems. And is there any benefit in signing a dual reg player compared to a loan player.

Dual registration is essentially like a season long loan..
On a season long loan the 'parent' club cannot recall the loan player.
Even on a month long loan the player is supposed to stay at the borrowing club..
Dual registration provides a more fluid framework in which the player can move between teams and when needed. This should encourage better players to be made available by the lending club... in theory.

| thanks in enemy terrority for that. Further to loan arrangements i was amazed that Jamie Rooney played at Barrow on a thursday and then played at Wakefield a couple of days later - something he did a few times. Now that was a flexible arrangement !

I'd have been amazed as well if he had done that, since it was against the rules [as they were at the time].
In fact he did no such thing : last game for Wakefield was 13th June, Barrow debut on 2nd July.

| As IET has said, the the dual registration system should make parent clubs be more willing to lend some of their fringe squad and better quality youngsters than the old loan system. I can totally understand why parent clubs have been unwilling to loan players in the past in case of injuries etc.
The fact we seem really keen to embrace the dual contract system, hopefully means the club are confident we can get some decent players. In the past generally we've had players who either just weren't ready or just weren't good enough - both in some cases. players like Miles Greenwood, Sean Gleeson, Joel Tomkins, Jason Crookes, Chris Dean - some of them were ok, none of them world beaters, even now when they are older. Obviously we have missed the boat regarding players like Sam Tomkins and Kyle Eastmond, but you never know, if we are getting youngsters, we might get the next superstar in the making.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |
