My dad died of MND, it's not really a laughing matter I've got to say. Some cracking ones so far though.

forgive me Dalto. It was not my intention to cause offence or in anyway imply that stephen hawkings condition is a laughing matter, as it certainly is not. in fact it never even occured to me, i was merely associating our great club with a personal hero and inspiration of mine not to mention a famous and towering figure in his own field, also his inclusion facilitates the inclusion of the equation, his condition never even entered my thinking.

I didn't mean to suggest you were being offensive. Hawking is a national treasure. It was just a bit close to the knuckle for me personally. I love black comedy as much as anyone but I'm still not over it after 5 years, it's a terrible terrible way to go.

I was going to put a star over the badge on my banner, but completely forgot. I was also going to do something very similar, with the river in the background, ships and Vikings etc, but I may have to think a little differently now.

This is the best one so far, imo.

I wouldnt know where to begin really. i dont have any appropriate software. anyone know of any open source downloads i could use to create one? i have a few hours to kill.
i could code one from scratch, but it would take me weeks.

thanks guys, i downloaded Gimp2 after my previous post. if only i could work out how to merge different layers i could crack on with my first idea!

Right, i realise its not banner dimensions. but dalto suggested i have a go and i just felt like creating. i can worry about dimensions later. so after two evenings of playing around (i dont believe in manuals or tutorials), i have my first ever bit of image editing to show you.
ive stayed away from pictures of past glories and gone for the viking/norway and northern lights angle

I'm not quite sure it's the finished article yet. I'll leave others to comment who are more artistically blessed but it's a great first effort mate.

It needs shrinking is more the point. It has to be 75 pixels high. That's 195 pixels high.

Oh absolutely. But the height restriction is a bit of a pain. It's difficult to do anything that interesting with so little space.

I love these so far. Might I make a suggestion? Replace chemic with a player or a real viking. Or on smurfs effort, needs to be smaller, not sure we can use Thor, otherwise, fantastic. Love the ambiance.
