| I wasn't sure a couple of weeks ago about the merits of sending guys like Ainscough and Farrell out on loan because I thought they might better training with the first team at Wigan in the hope of them getting some gametime. I didn't realise they would be splitting their time training wise between the 2 clubs so it looks like a fantastic deal for both clubs.
I've got to say fair play to whoever came up with this dual contract idea. It's a win win for everybody. The Championship is miles ahead of the reserve league which will improve these lads but I also think they'll bring alot to the championship themselves.
I'm hoping to get along to a couple of Widnes fixtures this season and have a look how they're getting on.

I don't get some of those comments tbh.
They had Lee Mossop on loan off us last season and were happy enough with that. I'm sure they'd have been just as happy at getting these 3 for this season. At the end of the day Widnes should be complimented on taing these lads on. It is a long term view to take them on imo because by doing this it's hopefully going to increase the pool of players clubs in superleague have to choose from and intime that should include teams like Widnes and Barrow.
Wigan have had and do have at the minute a raft of top quality young players. I have more confidence we'll keep the better ones of nowadays but they won't be able to offer everybody a fulltime deal. Some will leave the club and be up for grabs by other teams. They'll be all the better if they've had experiences like these 3 will get over the next few months.

| Great move that. I now have to revise my miserly prediction of Widnes not finishing in the top six. Top three now. Will make it that bit harder for my "dad's army" to do the business over Widnes this season

The fact is that this 'rentateam' which has been built for 'one season' consists of the following club trained home grown players many of whom are already appearing regularly for the first team:
Flynn
Grady
Houghton
Hulme
Mullally
Strong
Thompson
Yates
Add the following young British players who all have Super League experience and the potential return to Super League, it really makes you wonder how they come to these conclusions..
Thackery
Allen
Pickersgill
Kavanagh
Coyle
Gerrard
We have a squad of 28 if I'm correct, 4 of these 28 players loan / dual reg. They're an odd bunch those Barrow fans

| Shaun Ainscough and Ben Davies are two excellent additions. I don’t know much about Liam Farrell, but we could do with a good loose forward. I just hope that Wigan have a nice injury-free season.

They really are clueless, pathetic, deluded, little knobs. It made me chuckle though.

Interesting. Have you ever seen this Farrell kid play? Until you have you'd better reserve judgement.
Oh, and if you bump into Shad, ask him what happened to his Gold Coast Titans contract back in 2005, or his wonderful trip round Europe in a camper van. If he asks you what you are on about, just remind him of the pathetic porky pies he told to try and screw a bigger contract out of Batley.
Lovely chap. Not.

Widnes Vikings were the first team to employ shopmobility vehicles into their training regime.. Cast your mind back to 2006 when we were the ORIGINAL Dad's Army... Your lot are merely pretenders to the title
