No one player was particularly poor, it was just a poor performance and poor game really. Although we were never in an danger of losing the game, we didn't show any class from anyone really. Stefan Marsh looked dangerous, but apart from that it was 5 drives and a kick on almost every set. I'm not sure if we made more than about 2 or 3 clean breaks all game did we?

4 / 5 drives is pretty effective rugby at that level, you know. A comprehensive pre-season win over a decent Championship side isn't all too disheartening guys.

must say i disagree with the comment about a comprehensive win over a championship side. The scoreline flattered widnes due to a couple of soft tries at the end as fitness levels took over for the full-time side. Swinton by their own accounts did not play well and had a lot of basic handling errors due to being a bit rusty, as it was their first game in 5 months. Dont get me wrong swinton never looked like winning, but widnes never looked like winning-by-much. If widnes play like that in super league they will get 50 put past them every week. Fact. (except by salford, who you would beat if you put a team of kids out).

Not 100% sure on that myself either, must have missed a few things as the one defensive 'error' I can recall was a hit on a lad running across the pitch who carried on running... Though I think I have missed something here icon_lol.gif

As mentioned it was more of a poor game then a poor performance as it never really got going and was VERY slow. As the SL side yes we should have been the one's to up the pace though the amount of error's on both sides didn't help as the game had no rhythm to it really in attack and defence.

2nd run out, lot's of changes not reading too much into it really. We started very well and then dropped off a bit and credit to Swinton who kept in it and made us work hard for anything we were going to get out of the game.
