| With the reported departure of Tex Hoy and the presence of Walker, Litten and Moy, will his departure free up salary cap to be spent elsewhere? If so, where and who is available?

| Be plenty available but it won’t get spent. Will go towards repaying AP.

| Another player who didn’t buy into
The Culture ?
Why didn’t he just bring his A game every week ?
Likely why he didn’t get a proper playing gig in Australia
We must stop signing Aussies over aged 28 (excessive injuries) and those young players who can’t get a regular first team place ( Hoy Okynbur Pele)

That really limits the pool of players clubs could sign from the NRL, regular players under 26 are hardly likely to come over to SL, there isn't the salary cap space to entice them compared to the NRL.
Our best recruitment was Mini, Manu, Carlos, Pritchard and Fonua, all of those wouldn't have been signed with your rules.

| From his first interview here, I never thought Hoy wanted to be here, was using us like Clifford to get some game time and get an NRL gig, he didn't perform like Clifford, so it didn't work out.
I think there is a good player there, but don't think his head and heart was ever in his move to Hull.
Hoy wasn't a Smith signing either, imagine had he not been signed, kept Connor and signed an overseas backrower.

Yep from what I hear Pearson needs a new lamp in his office and has planned in a trip to Disney land. We all know any money saved this year isn't going to be spent on improving the squad.

And he's still not talking to us. Pass renewal is going to plummet unless he gets his act together, and quickly.

Waiting for the right time, going to make 10 new international signings, including 3 marquee players, then make a comeback.

| For us to save cash to spend on another player then Tex either has to leave of his own accord, or be sacked.
Simply sacking somebody without a cast iron case is a foolish thing for us to do if we ever intend to ask a young man to travel around the world and play for us in the future - who would be prepared to take the risk ?
In addition, sacking somebody without very good reason is to invite all manner of breach of contract claims - it just makes no sense to take the legal/financial risk.
I rather suspect that "released" means they pay him his contract and he leaves.
If that is true, it does not save us a penny and means we are without the services of one of our better players.
Genius.

| I too never felt like he was 100% committed, his first few games he was good then after that fell off the cliff. Dont remember him taking the ball in much at all in recent times. Even on Saturday he didnt run the ball he gave it to an 18 year old kid to run in , although the mistake that followed wasnt Hoys doing.
Makes sense hes the first to go with others that can play full back. Smith should be doing alot better but I do share his opinion to a degree that some of the players just dont seem to be holding there end of the bargain or not good enough to do what he wants them to do. Lets get rid of those.

| The initial reports said "offered to other clubs" although I can't see many who would be willing to take him and have quota space available. To me that reads they are not sacking or paying him off, at least in full so who knows ?
All in all a sad state of affairs and with the social media comments from his Dad and his previous "likes" played out far too much in public. Like you say with our past record its going to make it harder to sign players from overseas.

Despite I'm told our Hull daily mail reporter asking 'numerous times' for an interview with either him or the Chief Executive.

| If Pearson and Clarke truly back Smith then they need to show up from now. Let him wield the axe back his recruitment and if its still a show then get rid.
Its no secret Smith should be doing better, but it makes no sense to me why all of a sudden he comes here and is getting the worst results if his coaching career. People may say his time has gone but it doesnt plummet to this level. He needs a better cap to work with even though in my opinion we should be looking elsewhere.
