| No chance of an Uber in this City, tell him to get in the queue outside the station like the rest of us
On a more serious note, id give him a bit more time but its worrying that he doesnt know his strongest team and seems to be playing the big names just because

I'm wondering if he is under pressure from AP to play the big earners we've had a huge chunk of the salary cap sat in the stands at various times this season . Just can't see why he is persisting with Reynolds and gale it's so obviously not working

I'm hoping the international break gives us time to work on a few thinks. All the attack ran through Connor. We need a plan B and fast.

| If we change coach, it can't be another inexperienced coach, needs to be someone with a lot of experience, high standards and can get results out of the squad they inherit, not the cycle we seem to get into of giving each coach a 2-3 year grace period to build their own team . when Agar was at the helm, he got 2-3 years to build his own team, then Gentle comes in and has time to rebuild from Agar, Radford comes in and has 2-3 years to get his own team, now hodgson is rebuilding from Radford...if a new coach comes in he can't have 2 years to rebuild from hodgson, it just gives the impression that some seasons are pointless but next season will be better etc etc...eventually fans patience will run out and they'll stop attending

Spot on. We seem to have a habit of employing Assistants and hoping for the best.
And yes patience is wearing thin with the fans, post-Covid we are now down to the hardcore passholders and due to the size of the ground there is no fear of not getting a ticket, throw in a cost of living crisis and I can see more just picking and choosing games next season.
Also the stupid loop games arent attractive, I could do without seeing Toulouse at home again and a 2nd pasting at home from Saints for example, thats about 40quid of my pass money wasted.

| Lack of money will protect him. The injuries to the squad will protect, as it can be used as an excuse.
Seems a good guy, and I’d like him to do well.
Some of his team selections, and use of interchanges, puts doubts in your mind though.
He’s very guarded in what he says, and that’s not a bad thing. Just when you’ve been poor it doesn’t translate very well to supporters.
Think he’ll still be here until the end of his contract. Tony Smith being available is interesting. Think he got the Dobbins playing above themselves, but does his coaching record come up to scrutiny?

Tony Smith is top class and id have him at the club any day of the week. He was building a long term plan for Rovers until his surprise announcement, a young team with far better use of the salary cap than what we have right now. They have dropped off because it never works when a coach (or any manager) says they are working their notice.

Not afraid to drop underperforming big name players either.

| two main concerns for me about Hodgson
The first and probably what costs us games is his inability to get to grips with the Indiscipline on the field.
The second is the very poor recruitment whilst he has been in charge.
The jury is still out about Evans. McIntosh could turn out to be OK whilst Mitch could have been the find of the season but he hardly plays him.
We could be looking at a new in house Rookie coaching team with Gaz Ellis and Shenton and before supporters say we need an experienced coach well Peet at Wigan isnt doing so bad.

| I'd say he'd abit too nice as someone else said.
He's trying to play players into form which isn't working.
He stated he should of trusted Hookem sooner yet the lad can't get a game over 2 terribly performing half's.
Gale can't put a kick Into touch more than 8 yards down the pitch, can't kick a goal and can't make a pass, Hookem would play better.
Lovodua has put in man of the match performances at 6, yet Hodgson again is persisting with a half in Reynolds who's basically here for a jolly, the ridiculous tackling where he's trying to flatten players and bouncing off or giving pens away for high shots is cringe worthy now.
Balmforth top young hooker, tipped for big things, can't even get on the bench ahead of Jordan Johnstone who's deemed not good enough, Hodgson would rather flog an aging Houghton for 80 minutes.
Shaul another who's not good enough any more, way off the pace yesterday and most times he's appeared, deemed not good enough yet starts other young prospects. Mcintosh and Swift can cover and we have Barron who can play wing who's meant to be lightning and he's about 6ft2 offering an aerial threat out wide. No can't pick that.
Zero creativity, without Connor but absolutely no bravery or trust from Hodgson in giving hungry talented young players a chance.
Been baffled by a lot of team selections but bottom line is Hodgson isn't brave enough to pick the academy lads.
For me we need an experienced coach who will also demand consistency and performances.

| We need to move away from this "next year will be better" mentality too and focus on the season in hand. Fans will still go, but some will question the point of the rest of this season if all the focus at the moment seems to be on 2023 signings...it's happened over the past few seasons too...
2020...radders got sacked and we appointed hodgson so things will improve in 2021...they didn't really
2021...we were promised a clear out of some of the dead wood Hodgson inherited from Radford, so we get excited about 2022.
2022 ...Two ageing halves failing to deliver...talk of 3 exciting signings to get us excited for next year
2023...same pattern? "We just need to move a,b,c, on and sign X,y,z for 2024 and we'll be in with a chance"

Completely agree with all your points about the players. I like Brett but he needs to be more demanding and a bit more cut throat with his selections.
Was thinking about this on a run post game yesterday. If we were to, say, release Johnstone, Shaul, Gale, Reynolds and Bowden tomorrow, none of them would end up in Super League. They’d all go to higher end Championship teams. Yet they’re regulars for us.
The season is mostly over for us now with Connor’s injury. Time to blood the likes of Hookem, Severs, Balmforth, Barron, Litten, Staveley, Burrell etc. As many have said, could save us money in the long run, which could be more crucial than ever in the current climate.

Thanks, I try to call a spade a spade, praise where its warranted and constructive criticism also.
I think Hodgson being new as a coach he has the albatross of not wanting to risk unproven youngsters, hanging around his neck, I think itl prove to be his downfall
