| One thing I’ve noticed about BH is that he’s very measured in what he says, and doesn’t really give much away.
I’m pretty sure he knows where the squad is falling short, and where he’d like to change things. He’s pretty much playing with the hand he’s been dealt, but I’m sure he’ll address a few things as people come out of contract, and he can change things around a bit.
Even though he comes across as pretty affable, I also get the impression he won’t mess about and rely on sentiment.
I’ll be really interested to see where we are when he’s had chance to shape the squad.
In the meantime, he’ll keep playing with a straight bat I reckon.

| Yes agreed, he does. Very interested in how he plays things squadwise in particular. It's a tough recruitment market if Fages and Toby King can command c200k though. Like you say he does seem measured in what he shares particularly after Radford who was more heart-on-sleeve.

Good signing if true. I think he'd be an improvement.

Backline would look a lot quicker with him and Swift as wingers

| Wonder if the rule changes will change the direction in which some teams recruit?
The lack of scrums and six again has quickened the game up. I suppose it depends what happens to the rule changes going forward.

Scrums back for me mate, it’s all right speeding the game up, but we seem to be perpetually defending, we berate ourselves for I’ll discipline, but every match they stick it to us.

For me scrums in rugby league are a complete waste of time and make rugby league a joke to other sports looking in.
They are uncontested, with the ball fed in diagonally through the props legs. Teams then rarely have any imaginative moves. Can’t remember last time I saw a team score from a scrum. Most teams only know the different miss move combinations out wide on the attacking left edge in general play. Very little originality, although last weekend Warrington did try several little chips over the top, which can quite often come off and open play up.
Would love to see a team score a try again from a runaround move after winning a scrum against the head, ala the 1982 Challenge Cup Replay.
So for me, unless they are going to have them contested, or at least have the ball fed in straight and a hooker ‘hook’ the ball, we might as well carry on as we are.

Most clubs top earners will be 150k +
Who will ours be? Reynolds, Taylor, Connor and Houghton?
Houghton on over 100k and he tackles and that's it!
Sneyd will be on over 100k aswell and I'd have Fages over him 100%

Don’t know if it’s just me but I don’t see what is so good about Fages, he looks ok in the St’s team but who wouldn’t with they way they are set up?
Agree on Houghton though as we need more than a tackle machine at 9 as our distribution and attacking threat in this area is poor, someone like Parcell would make a huge difference to our play.

I see your point Chris about Houghton but when we have started with Johnstone and Danny Houghton comes on off the bench we look a much better team.

No argument on that but for some reason we started the season by flogging Houghton for 80 mins with only brief cameos of late by Johnstone. Last season under Last he seemed to get it right in terms of staring Johnstone then bringing Houghton on. The last 3 of 4 games Houghton has looked lack lustred & laboured.
I think with the 6 again and the amount in particular we give away it just highlights things & empties his tank and he is now at the latter end of his career and he can’t do 80 mins or near enough week in week out.

And it's about time our old/new coach saw the obvious and shifted Griffin to the second row cos he can't pass or tackle.
