So, looks like we have Fijian outside back making his way to us from next week. Very similar background to Ratu - Army, 7's Background. Be interesting to see how he goes in training.

Ratu said in an interview on the radio that there are loads of Fijians in the forces just as good as he is. I'm glad we've tapped into this, it seemed insane that more clubs aren't doing it after the success we had. The issue will be learning to defend league style, but it won't cost us much if it doesn't work out. Great news!

Both he and Ratu played for Saracens in the RU 2018 sevens and they both played in the final.He also scored a try in that game.
He doesnt have the Rugby league body that Ratu has and also doesnt look to have the explosive pace of Ratu but lets see how he goes in his trial .Think defence will be a problem for him

He definitely appears taller and rangier than Ratu but does look like he has pace to burn.
It's obviously hard to gauge the quality of the opposition too but on a popular video sharing site he did score some good tries.
It's a win win for the club and player alike.
Just wondered how old this guy is though.

26 according to Marlborough RU club website. Not sure how accurate it is. |

The chances of finding 2 players of Ratu's quality through this route seem slim, but it's definitely worth a shot and I look forward to seeing how he gets on. They must see something there to have given him a trial.
On this subject, whatever happened to the other union convert that spent time with us last year? I forget his name but he was a centre and a big unit iirc.

Hull actually offered Eldon a two year contract if memory serves me well. But as ccs said the Royal Navy sank our chances. Another Radders prospect. |
