4 Why did the club only open the turnstiles late when there was a big crowd on and it starting to rain heavely?

The club don't open the turnstiles.

It was pretty chaotic around 7pm biq queues and people not completely sure wther they were in the right one.

1, The club said they were expecting around 18000 2 hours before kickoff.
2, I thought the delay was due to the thunderstorm and in particluar lightening.
4, The SMC run the ground/turnstiles, not the club.

heard this morning it was because there was no doctor on duty for the turnstyles?

That was the cause issued by Sky last night.

Got in easily enough by going slightly earlier than usual but the queues for the Upper West were huge already. The people going in there would have included a lot of non-regulars and those turnstiles aren't exactly user friendly for those not familiar with them.

This we reported by RL News Hound "After a delayed kick-off due to the required personnel not being available to allow the turnstiles to be opened on time"

That's been the excuse for the last 3 home games. Think someone needs to tell them to set off earlier.

That was what the stewards said at the last game too but he said the Club Doctor had to be in the ground before the gates could open? The queues to the lifts was big and the whole point I go in the lift is because I can't stand and queue nor climb stairs. Never heard of the club doctor having to be present before and if true maybe he should start getting to the ground earlier, but the cynic in me says its nothing to do with the club doctor and the SMC are playing silly buggers with us again.

The ground looks in poor nick in areas now, dirty seats, rust and weeds near the roof, poor sound system. If the council or a new City owner ever gets in control of the SMC I reckon there will be a backlog of work and cost to get things back to standard now.

The turnstyles also arent great, but at the same time a lot of fans still expect to turn up bang on kickoff and walk straight in, and nothing seems to convince em to go earlier.

It'll be a doctor on a rate for SMC, nothing to do with the club. Chances are SMC will only pay them from 7pm or something.
