Like you Wilf, the result at Saints did nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for what's gone on this season. We always knew it would be a tough ask with so many players sitting it out. Those who pulled the jersey on gave it everything and as you say Manu and Watts were outstanding. On to Friday now and with a full strength team we've got enough to see the Pies off and effectively get a home semi-final. I was actually at the Maine Road final as a young boy and watched the first half on a local's tele as my dad had fallen and been taken in by these good people to recover. However we managed to make it into the ground at half time and witness Colin Hutton kicking the winning goal. Great decision making from dear old Mick Scott.

Thanks for a very relaxed diary Wilf, looking forward to giving Wigan a seeing too which is a nice change for us. Loved the banner over caravan park, an award of some sort should be made to the fan responsible, it can't have been cheap.

Thanks again Wilf, great insight into such a great cup competition. I think we will win our last three and play Wire at Old Trafford.

Nice to see a bit about the great Mick Scott,a well respected player and docker. As for the talking point of the weekend,it has to be the plane over Poorhouse Lane, bet poor old Neil was spitting blood when he saw it.Don't know who did it, but it was a most original way of getting our own back and rubbing it in,and to cap it they lost. Thanks for another great diary Wilf

Started watching in the mid-40's and saw Mick Scott's whole career at Hull. A specialist open side prop in the era of contested scrums he had massive competition for international representation for that position from the great Alan Prescott who captained England and GB in Ashes series. In any Hull all-time greatest team ,however, he would be my first pick at No8.

The Maine Road grand final was a great triumph for Mick and the pack he led and at the final whistle I was one of many that charged onto the field dancing with glee.

It was my greatest day following Hull FC.
