Just to expand on this a little. What constitutes Legendary status for the fans? Length of time at the club? Number of appearances? International status? Tries scored? Popularity? Media attention? It's a word that gets banded about a lot but how many players have truely become legends at our club? Who is yours and why?

Would class Smith or Kearney as legends. Both were fantastic players but not Hull legends.

I'd say it's a bit of all the above, with the exception of scoring try's as obviously even the best forwards aren't going to score as many as a back.

For me I can only comment on (IMO of course) the only FC legend of the 21st century, Richard Swain. He was a proven international player, a leader, a captain who played with consistency and gave his all. And of course captained us to our first trophy in years. Many players can play well in run of the mill games, legends find that extra burst of energy to charge down a drop goal in the final minutes of an end to end cup final in front of 75k.

Ill help you narrow it down, you can take off Stone ( not even Hulls best Prop in his era) Sterling and Kearney ( one season players) Fred Ah Koui ( didnt hit the heights needed and best remembered for belting Casey) Shaun Briscoe (??? ) Brian Smith (won nothing and jumped at the first opportunity).

Difficult one, probably a word that's banded about a bit too much. I see it as the legacy they leave behind at the club once they're gone, rather than longevity, try record, honours etc.

Richard Swain definitely.

Smith & Kearney I'm not sure - but they do always get brought up on threads like this. Smith was probably the most skillful player I've seen at Hull in the past 25 years, the most natural, gifted footballer. Kearney was a leader amongst men, and was a key influence in the 2005 cup winning side. He was only here for a season, but Sterling didn't play many games for us either.

Some of the Hull lads that came through in the 00's will always be remembered. As will Viakona in the 90's. Steve Prescott too.
