Its dearer then just about anywhere else in Hull, I had an "organic" lager in town a couple of weeks ago and it was £4.00 a pint and it was nice. The garbage they serve in there is not worth £2 a pint so I think its about time the faithful boycott the stadium food and drink outlets.
I feel sorry for the travelling fans as its sometimes the only place they get chance to have a beer etc..........

| How are these prices going to assist the SMC in reducing its deficits?
Don't they realise it's going to increase them? Who's in charge for Christ sakes. Robins nest prices are £3.60 but a lot go to soccer sensations,

It's all a game so the SMC can post a loss, meaning they don't have to give any share of the profits to the council and adding weight to Allam's argument that he must be allowed to own the ground.
Rumour has it that the SMC are being awkward about hosting an England-New Zealand game next autumn, despite England/GB constitently drawing 20k+ crowds at the KC, again this smacks of another agenda to me, if you can't make a profit on an event that's pretty much a guaranteed sell out then you shouldn't be running a business.

The concept of price elasticity of demand appears to have passed them by. Same commercial team that predicted a massive sponsorship uplift from rebranding City to Tigers..

Agreed, I doubt rebranding to tigers would bring in £100million in investment which is what city will get if they stay in the premier league.
On beer prices, i will be with everyone else drinking in the pub before going in, did the smc really think that we would still buy beer at the ground when there are endless numbers of pubs just a few minutes away from the ground??

I remember that from A level economics, and that was a long time ago, so they can't pretend it's some new fangled thing that they haven't worked out yet.
It's not like they're the only place selling beer in Hull

| Out of interest, how much do they charge at City games? Or do they just sell Tiger beer at those?

My cynical mind also wonders if this is another contrived plot to squeeze our income, beer being the only revenue source which gives a cut to Hull FC. If there is a price difference for beer between City's matches and our own, it would be interesting to see if the difference is roughly equivalent to the amout per pint Pearson could expect to receive from our sales.
(Yep, I know I'm a paranoid harpy when it comes to Allam and his motives. )

| So as beer is the only thing we get a % rake off from we hurt Hull FC if we stop buying it. Therefor perhaps the mantra should we keep buying the beer and boycott the rest of the catering stuff?

| Be interested to see how many pints they sold, vs. how many they sell now. Will then see how stupid or otherwise they are

| Its a fine balance to strike, and I'm not entirely sure that the raising of the prices will result in a loss.
If you raise the price of a pint by 10%, you need more than 10% of people to stop buying the beer to result in a loss.
Whilst some people will have a set budget and will now only be able to buy 3 pints instead of 4, I imagine that the vast majority of people only buy 1 pint at a game, and as such would be unlikely not to purchase.
So its likely that the numbers sold will not be -10%, hence the SMC will make more money.
Its the same with ticket prices - lowering the price by 10% is hardly unlikely to attract 10% more fans, therefore clubs will not do it.

| At football it £3.60. The price increase is because Pearson won't let MR Allam to reduce the FC kickback on beer sales from 30% to 3% as he has done for the football. Of course for the football that's a reduction in income in one of his pockets to the benefit of his other pocket.
Just remember the Licensing Laws which state you must display your prices and they must be the prices you charge. That includes the offers above the outlets. Quite alot of boards to change from football to rugby everyweek.

Thought not
Something i highlighted in a email to the SMC, i'm still waiting for a reply 4 weeks later
