| So, I'm sure many on here know my thoughts about Radford and indeed Pearson.
Yes we now have some good background investment but with the present coach we are going no-where.
he lacks integrity for one thing, he lacks knowledge, he lacks thought process, he lacks experience, he lacks man management skills..
Basically he is a disaster, how on earth did Pearson think he was the man for the job..why did Radford think he was the man for the job?
Please give workings out as to why Radford should still be here and not sat in a public park contemplating when to run on with the bottles where he should be?

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

| I don't believe he's up to the job but the owner has decided he's going to be the coach for the foreseeable future so we need to get behind him and the team when the new season starts.

Some people do want to talk about the coach although others obviously don't. If you think the topic is boring don't contribute to it but don't try to stifle debate either. It's better that Radford is discussed on one thread rather than derailing all the others.

Bingo. We have a winner.
Anyone who doesn't want to discuss Radford doesn't have to read the rather obviously titled threads.

| On topic...
I didn't want Radford appointed in the first place. I thought he lacked experience and needed much longer working as an assistant before taking on the huge task of turning this club around. I haven't seen anything so far to make me change my mind, although he's not quite the train-wreck some would have you believe.
Pearson is backing him so he'll be here a while. Whether that will turn out to be a potentially costly mistake remains to be seen. Our recruitment and retention has certainly improved, our youth setup is beginning to bear fruit, and young players are being given a shot in the first team. So things aren't completely gloomy.

| I didn't want him to be appointed either, for similar reasons to Kosh.
For much of last season I wanted him to be sacked but the home performances against Saints, Rovers and Leeds persuaded me he should be given more time.
My view is that he should be replaced at the end of next season if we fail to make the top 8.
There are two reasons for this. Firstly I think two full seasons is enough for him to show whether he is capable of taking the club to where we want it to be.
Secondly he will lead us into next season with a squad which includes at least 7 players signed by him (including two new half backs) plus another 3 which he brought through from the U19's. He can't therefore complain it's not his team.
If we do make the 8 he should stay for the final year of his contract and a decision as to whether he gets a new contract should be based on what further progress we make in year 3.

| I was open to the Radford appointment then as the season went along decided he wasn't the man for the job. Pearson though thinks otherwise so were stuck with him and what im now hoping for is that a mixture of Radford learning a lot from his first year, new halfs, full pre-seasons for players who didn't get it last year and the youth structure starting to bring players through that things will improve on the pitch. Rovers have gone down the untried assistant route, looks like Saints will be doing the same and im sure others will follow and hopefully Radford will of learned a hell of a lot and be able to put that into practise this year. I expect us to finish 6-8 in 2015 and be a lot more competitive unlike 2014 where I was vilified for saying we wouldn't make the play offs and then hopefully further improvements year on year but I don't expect us too have a chance at winning a GF for at least five years

| I personally think PG wasn't given enough time, but as the whole structure had to be changed, in going with youth, we had to have a new coaching team in place, as Bomber/PG signed some journey men & unproven young players like miller/Arundel/Crookes, on big wages, when the likes of Abdul/Logan/Lineham have done better on less money, Radford is upto the job as is the next rookie coach, I hope he is a success & not just because I know him or not just to prove his knockers wrong, but to put the club I've supported for over 25 years, through good days & bad days, back competing.

| I don't think he's up to it but there's no point whining about it for the next 4 or 5 months as nothing will change. He was appointed too soon in his coaching career which wasn't his fault but I think it will actually harm his longer term career whereas cooke has dropped to the lower leagues to learn his trade and will be better for it in the long run.
Beyond radford our coaching set up is inadequate. We need more support for the head coach including a player who understands the nuances of half back and attacking play

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

| I personally have doubts that he is the man to transform the attitude/culture at the club which, for me, is the root cause of many of our shortcomings.
However, I hope he proves me wrong. I would rather be posting on here in 2/3 years time eating humble pie whilst celebrating victory at Wembley or Old trafford than simply saying I told you so. Also, continually changing the coach every 2 years or so can be counter productive, but then so is sticking with a man for too long if he is ineffective. This is the conundrum we have placed ourselves in.
I hope he is the man to turn things around or, at the very least, start us on the right path, but I cannot ignore a nagging doubt that he is Richard Agar Part 2. A man to take us to 6th-8th with maybe the odd cup run thrown in, but ultimately still not THE one (who that person is I have no idea).
Either way, he will be in charge for the start of 2015 no matter how uptight any of us get on here. So here's hoping with fingers crossed that Adam Pearson can see something that most of us can't.

This is the key bit - Radford needs experience around him and dint have it last year and still doesn't have it. This could be his failing

Good summary. The biggest disappointment to me has been our failure to compensate for lack of creative personnel by doing the things that give you a chance in close games - quick PTB, dummy runners etc. Hopefully we'll address the personnel issue via Sneyd and Pryce, but as importantly get the likes of Shaul and Naughton following up the playmakers to exploit their pace.
Happy with recruitment in the current market. Pleased with the next crop of youngsters coming through. Tying it all together is complicated so let's hope Radford's learning on the way and we can convert enough marginal losses into wins to get us up the table.
