| Really want the kid to succeed , and be the half back we are craving for, but don't think we will see him for a while now.
Missed tackles, and the inability to put a mark on the game, wil mean Horne will return for as long as he is fit I reckon.

| thought he showed few nice touches first half but this game showed up the fact he is'nt and never will be the organising general/leader we've needed for years.i don't believe age has anything to do with it.look at the great half-backs,when they came on they would shout and boss the older players about because thats their job.after the fight and sin binnings we just needed some one to steer us home.sadly the last person to do that is now coaching at donny.

| I'm not one to criticise players (and coaches) when we lose, if anything I'll look for excuses,
but today was a classic case of a pack dominating the first 35 minutes of a game but we didn't the have half-backs to finish the game off.
I thought Miller and Rankin were both very average and went missing for long periods.
I don't buy this "young and inexperienced" argument. Surely they've been playing for long enough now to be showing some sort of form?
I don't see either of them improving any time soon to a higher standard.
We need class acts in these 2 positions - we all know the feeling when opposition players with the "X-factor" are in possession. I don't get that with Miller and Rankin.
Having said that, such players are as scarce nowadays as rocking horse , so let's hope Mr Dobson, at least, is just around the corner.

| Our only "half" went off at half time. Unfortunately Miller for 90% of the time was playing further from the opposition defensive line than I was sat watching. The odd time he took on a player he looked at his most dangerous. His kicking game was poor as well unfortunately and instead of taking on the mantle in the absence of Westerman he did virtually nothing.
Rankin has the makings of a running game but Miller is never our answer at scrum half medium term I'm afraid. I think the club already know that though.

| Agree with the OP. I really wanted the lad to succeed but he just doesn't do it for me. Would expect to see Horne back in on Friday.

| think rankin would go well along side a good 7 who dictates play.he's got the pace and footwork.like horne been the off the cuff/running half-back when you have a cooke type player as his partner.

| I've said this before but I would like to see Rankin and HTW given a go together. Is it too early for him? Maybe so, but I don't see that we have much to lose. At least he is a proper scrum half. I feel their styles are perfect for each other.

| No different to almost every other game he's played. he'll never be a top half back and rankin isn't much better.
All those who were asking for rankin and miller got what they asked for today

| His performance was summed up for me by one of his headless chicken runs in our own half which resulted in conceding a crossing penalty. I really want him to succeed but at the moment you would have to say it's not going to happen.

| In my opinion Miller will be on his way home at the end of the season.
As others have said most of us really wanted him to succeed but in reality he hasn't progressed at all.
Too much lateral running, which actually resulted in a crossing penalty today and then he stole the ball on our own line to give them another 6 tackles.
If by now you don't know how to attack a line with the ball in hand by running straight then I don't think he ever will succeed in SL or the NRL.
Horne will definitely be back at 7 next week.
Team selection played a part in that poor performance today.
the lack of either Carvell or Watts to accommodate Tuson was a mistake and Whiting should have played in the second row which is now his best position but he has been moved around so much he has lost his position in the team.

| We need an experienced organiser with a kicking game. We can compensate for defensive weakness, but we go from one half-baked signing to another at half back. Dykes with legs held together by Sellotape, Thorman, Seymour, Long, Holdsworth..the answer last year was sign unproven Miller mid season and expect him to steer us round the park immediately. He's just not ready, should be learning from a seasoned pro. Until we make signing one our single biggest priority, we have no chance. Put all other recruitment on hold until it's sorted. Sounds like Dobson's gone to Warrington, which is a real shame for us.

| Oh well we can always build a team around Richard Horne. Bout time that Horne lad was given a chance.......
Seriously we need to be in the market now for a decent halfback, and offer a wedge to get him to come to Hull.....

| Yep, let's get back to the default. Not as though Horne's failed for the last seven years is it.
Need a halfback, fast.
