I have been following our great team for more than 40 years and have been to Wembley for all the heartbreaking finals through the 1980s and at the other end of the spectrum at Cardiff in 2005 but, having witnessed the scenes of togetherness and collective will at the KC today for the big send off for the team I feel that this is our year. The body language of the team and the will of the fans tells me that Wigan require the performance of a lifetime to beat us and from what I've witnessed against the likes of Huddersfield and Catalans that is not in their DNA. I have witnessed many a Hull performance down the years where we have literally refused to be beaten and I sense that this group of players have that special bond together and have come through adversity this season to earn their place in the sun. With their collective will together with our collective will on the day I can sense a special performance from this group. If we can keep Wigan in check in the first half to either lead or be on level terms at the break I think that the will of the group such as the likes of Ogre and Lynch along with Tickle giving the Black & Whites his swansong performance after many years proud service will simply overwhelm the cherry & whites. The backs have so many match winners and potential stand out performers such as Milky, DJ, Shaul and Crooks that for me it is inconceivable that one or more of them will not write their name into club and Wembley history. It has taken half a lifetime to reach this point and I have suffered the same heartbreaks that the rest of you on this forum have over the decades but this feels somehow different. I can picture Gareth Ellis with the cup above his head and, for me, I can see no other outcome. Sing your hearts out on Saturday and enjoy every minute of the experience. This is the start of the next Hull FC era. COYH.

Cut out the errors, the silly penalties, and have a good completion rate (along with the ingredient’s above) should see us lift the trophy.

I think the euphoria of making the final is clouding some people's judgement. Wigan are a better team overall than Hull FC. The league table doesn't lie. Of course, we can lift the trophy, but it is we who need to lift our performance to a higher level if we are to do so.

Your right and the bookies tend to get it right! Problem is that with a cup final form and league positions go out the window and becomes a game for the team that turns up on the day.

This year we have done ok and was robbed by Wigan at the KC and have already beaten Wire twice and Leeds this year. Ask Fev 1983, Sheff 1998 or Whiting 2005 if the so called better team always win!!!

Passed a couple of coaches on the way to work this morning and i'm starting to get the butterflies, COYH lets have em...

I admire your optimism but your statement is a bit contradictory in the sense of you saying form goes out the window in finals then name only 3 teams that have won against the odds in the last 30 years, here,s hoping we can buck the trend.

On the other hand, the list is one in the 80s, one in the 90s, one in the 00s. Time for this decade's upset. icon_razz.gifRAY:

Yes, let's get this done tomorrow and then there's time for one or two more before the next decade.

I don't recall saying that the 'so called better team always win'.

I'm sorry, but I just dont see it. Maybe is the pessimist in me not wanting to get my hopes up, but I just cannot see a Hull win. Before the 2005 final, infact, after the demolition of saints in the semis, I genuinely felt the cup was ours to lose. I just dont feel the same this year. I think we'll challenge, but I feel like Wigan will have too much. If Crooks had been playing in the weeks building up to this game, had some match fitness and had lineham been playing then I would have felt far more optimistic, especially after the torrid time they gave Wigans left edge in the home game. Lineham is a huge loss in this game.

Aye thats true, apart from them blowing a 5pt lead at the top and being out of form for a few weeks, they are a better side.

It looks very much like they're targeting this game. They've lost a few recently because they've rested key players. They're somewhere close to full strength tomorrow, and it will take our best performance of Gentle's tenure to lift the cup.

I enjoyed the bookies getting it right when I got 9/2 on Hull in the semi. Made this trip a snip.

Whatever happens we're back challenging and on the up. Pearson wont let the momentum subside like it has before - enjoy the day and pick out your preferred seating for years to come.
