GENTLE MAKES ONE CHANGE TO SQUAD


Hull FC coach Peter Gentle has made one change to his squad for Friday’s fifth round Tetley’s Challenge Cup tie against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the KC Stadium.

It sees winger Jason Crookes return to the 19 in place of Joe Westerman, who suffered a hand injury in the 48-12 victory over London Broncos last time out.

Young forwards Chris Green and Josh Bowden also retain their place in the squad after missing out against London and will be pushing for selection as the Black and Whites look to book their place in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, captain Gareth Ellis and Daniel Holdsworth are also named once again having come through unscathed on their return to the side from injury last week.

Pity about Westerman as he has been playing very well this season
Plenty of cover in the back row now that Ellis is back

I realise I'll probably get flamed for this but I haven't been overly impressed with Westerman this year. I haven't looked up the stats but my impression is that he makes a lot errors gives away a lot of penalties and misses a lot of tackles without really making up for it in other ways. I may be being overly harsh but that's my general impression of him this season.

Westy, out of the forwards, scored and set up the most try's, 2nd in tackle count and hitups! Top tackle busts, 2nd in offloads.

Could improve his errors and penalties, but this will be effective by how much work and minutes he plays.

Easily our mist creative forward and will be a big loss.

I'd replace Pitts with Pitts

O meley and Johnson will be in, to replace Pitts (no 2) and Bowden.

Personally not a massive fan of Johnsons, would rather have Bowden there

Me neither, but think PG will pick Johnson over Bowden for experience and playing against his former club.

Yea I can see it happening. Shame though, Bowden looks really promising when he has played and has a bit more biff to him than Johnson does.
