Hull FC have admitted their interested in recruiting a home-based half back as they continue to build their squad for 2013.
Black and Whites head coach Peter Gentle has already brought in the likes of England star Gareth Ellis and the Knights pairing of Joe Arundel and Liam Watts, but he is still not done when it comes to strengthening his squad.
With a number of targets already outlined within Super League and the prospect of signing oversees players much more difficult at the current time, Hull FC owner Adam Pearson says the focus is on the domestic competition and finding a playmaker.
“We’ve scoured the market for the right fit for us and Peter and Shaun have identified a number of potential players,” he said.
“I will do all in my power to make it as easy as possible for them to explore and secure one of those signings, even if that means we may have to look at further investment in the squad.
“I think we all know that we require at least one more pivot in the squad to accompany the likes of Brett Seymour and Richard Horne and that is our focus for next season.”
Many players have been touted as being potentially on Hull’s hit list, that isn’t exclusive to Super League despite the club’s focus on the domestic market.
Whilst it doesn’t look like Matty Smith was one of those identified following his move to Wigan, it seems the club are keen to move on others as soon as possible.

If it isn't Rangi then somebody needs a rollicking for writing that headline.

| Home-based half back?
Let's have a look:
Bradford: Kearney, Jefferies, Sammut, Gale - All pretty average. 3 are Aussies. 2 are better at FB.
Catalans (technically not home-based): Bosc, Dureau, Pryce - Probably take any of them.
Huddersfield: Brown (already gone), Brough, Robinson - Expensive as they're on long deals.
Hull KR: Green, Dobson - Doubt either.
Leeds: McGuire, Sinfield, Burrow - Can't see them moving ever.
London: Witt, Gower - Both average Aussies.
Salford: Smith (already gone), Holdsworth - Take Holdsworth.
Saints: Hohaia, Lomax, Gaskell - Hohaia is gash, can't see other two budging for a long time.
Wakefield: John, Wood - Wouldn't have either.
Warrington: Briers, Myler, Ratchford - Would take all of them. Don't really rate Myler but better than we've got.
Widnes: No idea who they've got which sums it up!
Wigan: Finch, Leuluai - Both going to NRL.
Not many to go for in there, so should narrow it down!

Widnes halves are Rhys Hanbury and Joe Mellor. So they can be discounted!
