Interesting their move to go for longer deals. Gives you greater stability but less flexibility, I suppose. I think we should tie Houghton down for 5 years, personally. Best (OK, only) quality player we've produced in the last 10 year when you think about it, great attitude, why wouldn't we?

At the vast majority of home games his wife/girlfriend has been there along with their 4 kids. I'm thinking they must have moved over here??

I've thought that, I'm all for openness with the fans, but there are some things we don't need to hear, like that we've opened contract talks with players.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't. Some people clammer for any information and try to read things into it which are not there.

Personally I'd just wait until the club announces something concrete. ATEOTD worrying about something you cannot change is fairly futile.

I cannot see this being true. If Manu wanted to stay the club would have snapped his hand off.

I think the club are doing this to make sure that the fans don't get angry if they don't sign a new contract, by thinking that we did nothing to sign then. I hope Tickle signs, and by the club making it public it adds more pressure on the player to sign as there could be a backlash from some of the fans
