Hull FC have today made a statement about Martin Gleeson. If fans would like to pass on their best or discuss stress related illness then please feel free to do so.

Any allegations made about Martin Gleeson will be removed and the poster will be banned.

Longy had a rant on twitter about something day or so ago, I imagine it was Gleeson related.

If he is genuinely ill then I wish him well.

I am pleased the club is supporting him rather than just washing their hands of him. He is a top player and we need him back, if he can't get back due his stress related illness then we will need to recruit a centre for next season. Hopefully this won't be the case and we will see him sooner rather than later.

Most importantly I hope he gets well, we saw what happend with Terry Newton and it's important players get the support they need. His health and his family are what matter most right now.

I echo all of that. I hope the club support him as much as they can, & we see him back in a black & white shirt.

Curious to know if we are paying him on a pay as you play basis?

Doubt it but I think it's fair to assume that we are paying him peanuts this season but next season his contract will be heavily backloaded.

Either way plenty of people receive sick pay so why should rugby players be any different? We were still paying Nicklas and we still paid Horne during their layoffs.

Sick pay is fair enough. I just hope we are not being our idiotic selves and end up making ourselves into a laughing stock again.

I hope Gleeson can get himself sorted and back into an FC shirt, as there is no doubting his quality.

Horne & Nicklas are different, they have been here a while (Nicklas in the youth setup etc) and they were injured during the course of playing for the club. Gleeson is not injured as such. yes I know stress is classed as an illness nowadays, but the club must have taken some precautions when signing him after his early release from Wigan.

Lets just hope its sorted soon we look twice the team we do now with him in it.

If you go off work with stress you would get paid even if it had nothing to do with work.

Like I said we didn't have much cap left this season so would imagine he is getting a bigger wedge next season. Hull will have written clauses into his contract about what they expect of him but stress is an illness and should be treated the same as if someone has dislocated a shoulder.

We shall see how it pans out.

The difference is though that a dislocated shoulder would have been suffered in the duty of representing Hull FC. We all know why he is "stressed" and it isnt upto you guys to pay for it.

He is an employee of the club so it's up to the club to decide on whether or not he should be paid, not me or you.

The reasons for his "stress" precede his contract with Hull FC. They will have clauses written into it i would imagine.
