Are we becoming a left sided team much like we were in the days of Cookie. It just seems that our " go to " players ( Manu, Westerman, Yeamo, Brisco ) all play on that side and the only time we go right is when Westerman switches - Thoughts.

FOR SOME REASON WE SWITCH WESTERMAN TO ACCOMODATE MANU (WHEN HE GETS ON)...IN MY OPINION WESTERMAN SHOULD HAVE AS MUCH BALL AS POSSIBLE

I think most teams have a preferable side and tend to play more to one side than the other. As long as you don't exclusively attack down one side only it is not a major problem and can work in your favour. If a team expects you to be going left/right the majority of the time it means they can sometimes stack their defence more to the more predominant side and the attacking team can then take advantage of it.

There's also the factor that most players pass better right to left than left to right, so attacking down the left channel is a little easier if all other things are equal.

I'd rather we were a left sided team than a no sided team which we have been since Cooke left. At least we're 50% creative!!

theres no doubting that our left side is our good attacking side has been for years now but the good good sides have good attacking ability all over the park and for me we seem to put all our eggs in 1 basket type of speak with the likes of yeamen,briscoe,manu the big money earning players. were as the right side is made up of tickle,whiting and sharp who havent got that attacking ability and ive been saying it for years now we need a good all round right centre we aint had one since domic and he wasnt owt great but he was a good all round right centre and made a huge diffrence to our attacking side of things. personally id like to see tickle playing prop i know people wont agree but ticks for all his work ethic ect he hasnt got that attacking ability and for me as a team we would be better of with him at prop, westy on the right secound row with manu starting on the left with lauaki rotating with manu in his best posistion.

Tickles got a few on the right this year, Sharp aint done too bad either .

I've got no problem at all with us been a left sided team and in fact I think we should go down that side more than we do. Teams should play to their strengths and we are clearly stronger down that side with Manu, Yeaman & Briscoe.

People said we were too predictable when we used Cooke, Chester & Yeaman but it seemed to work and it's when we had our last bit of success.

Absolutely spot on. Most teams favour simple plays or drop offs to the right to set up for a line shot to the left. Warrington being an exceptions due to Briers being left handed and better at passing to the right.

Although one thing to note is that the opposite has been true of Long, Saints were always a more right-sided team. So is our preference for the left still an indicator of how disappointing he's been, a reason for it, or unrelated?
