I believe it to be near on impossible to create a pre game atmosphere at the KC, mainly down to the fact of the loud music blaring out accross the poor PA System. Last Fridays sing along to Old Faithful didn't go down well, and I put this down to the fact that the version that is played isn't the way that our anthem is sung by the fans and therefore non to easy to follow, especially on mass.

I sent the following through to Tell us:


" As a fan of many many years I am writing to ask that the club please let us supporters create our own atmosphere before home games. Turn of the music playing from the horrid PA System, turn off the new announcers (you know, the one that hardly even knows our players names?) microphone. Don’t play the ‘new’ version of old faithful (It’s nothing like we, the fans, sing it. You will never get everybody singing along to this). Just please, prior to kick off, let there be silence and let the fans get behind the team as they wish. I believe it is just not possible to create an atmosphere with the amount of background noise being created by yourselfs. The fans cannot hear what is been chanted from one block to another and therefore you’ll never get an atmosphere going.

So please at the next home game give it a go eh? What have you to lose, another wonderful atmosphere like last Friday?"

Now, following futher e-mails (as it was initally only picked up and replied to regarding my slight dig at Mr McKay) I have had a response from Jon Flatman stating that they would give this a try.

I'm in the hope that my request is what other fans are thinking should happen, but if this is not the case just blame me. It's not the clubs or Agars fault this time
Hopefully we can build some atmosphere (on the back of a decent result this weekend) but I am well aware that the times we are in at the minute, just turning the music off pre-game is not guaranteed to get the fans chanting/singing, but fingers crossed I don't look too much of a pillock with my request.

I do indeed, although as I was only young lad for the majority of my Boulevard days I never got to sample the Threepenny atmosphere as much as I would have liked.

I also get your point about the team, but come a week tomorrow I will be there shouting them on. Hoping for the best. Many would call this blind faith but I believe that we as fans need to get behind the team. It's been evident so many times how the atmosphere can lift the team. Although, I also understand that we actually need something to shout about in the first place

I do like the video montage thing. Have that, then a bit of a gap to let the crowd do the Come on You 'Ull bit. The team should not come out to a recording of Old Faithful - the version is too slow and uninspiring.

The music beforehand is for the kids and younger people i presume which i have no objection to. I quite like a bit of rock type music for when the players actually run out to accompany the video montage thing. But what i hated was being TOLD to stand up and sing old faithful, i dont mind being encouraged to sing but not TOLD to do it, ill support my team how and when i like thankyou

The atmosphere at games is purely down to how well the team are playing...at the moment there is no confidence in the team, therefore the atmosphere is dead.

the club need to ditch the awful new additions of the stand up and sing Old Faithful, and the air-raid sirens though.

i remember the bring on the fc days at the threp...and the beginning to the season, fc are back, fc are back ohh ohh...god i miss that place!!!!

why not record the old faithful fans singing 'old faithful' one game, and as the players are coming out, play it over the PA, then, hearing his, the fans will start to sing along...in theory
