Hull KR Chairman Neil Hudgell, August 26th, 2014 said.. "In fact, the days of us signing any players from across the river are over. Our fans are loyal, passionate and only interested in one club. Taking players from our nearest rivals doesn't fit in with that brief.":8570.jpg

Him being the new top class centre we need?

For me, we need Manu on the pitch for the full eighty minutes. Playing him in the centre eases his usual workrate of being in the forwards and also means Agar can perhaps leave him on instead of the compulsory spelling system for the forwards he seems to get wrong so often.

Seeing Willie outsprint the Cas backs from 50m out in the friendly suggests he has enough pace and let's be honest, getting the ball from a scrum wide out, (if anybody was capable of giving him it that is icon_rolleyes.gif ), he could be devastating.

Not sure if we can recall Mike Burnett if it leaves us too light in the forwards or we could always have a look to see if there are any forwards left down Belle Vue way who they're trying to sell....

Any thoughts or obvious reasons why not?

One of your best players, would be silly to move him from what he does best. Although this is Agar... you might see him at 6 n friday night then icon_razz.gif

Putting him in the centres where he would be starved of possession would be a complete waste imo.

I would have him on the bench and let him spell Fitz.We would get the best out of both this way IMO.

I don't mind him playing centre until Phelps arrives, infact I think he's a better option that the Briscoe-centre lyne-wing plan, but as soon as Phelps is here I'd have Phelps FB, Whiting/Yeaman , Manu in the back row.

The idea of Briscoe & Sharp defending up against Senior & Hall is a scary thought as that duo rip apart far more experienced centre/wing pairings than 2 youngsters who have only played 80 mins together and neither of them are very vocal in defence.

Agar WASN'T the man for the job. Agar ISN'T the man for the job. Agar NEVER WILL BE the man for the job.:

L**ds have ripped us to pieces time and again down our right in recent seasons and Agar has sat and watched it and done sweet fa about it. He needs to either start with a defensively sound winger/centre partnership on that flank on Friday or be prepared to switch things around if they start to run over us again.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings-nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And which is more, you'll be a Man ,my son.:30669.jpg

I like the idea of Manu in the centres, although my view is restricted to televised games and the odd game I get to see live. I dont believe his opposite centres would run rings around him like some have suggested on here, what I see is a strong running player who can pass, has good footwork, powerful and will draw in the opposition to put his winger in space (is this not what a centre should do) and he's not bad at defense. just my thoughts.

Manu should play in the centre for certain, but only if the distribution of the ball was better, he is completely wasted at 2nd row. But, having said that, Fitz is also past playing 13 but it's not fashionable to admit it.

He's wasted in our set up because we rarely get the ball wide for a "wide running second row" or if the dummy half moves the ball quickly enough usually on the 5th tackle it goes the wrong way and Manu , Yeaman and Briscoe are stood like lemons. Agree about Fitz his application is admirable but 80 minutes in a disguised props role is too much for him. Surely even Agar can see Fitz needs spelling and Manu is the impact player to do this with Westerman at 13? The latter needs to improve but we've no choice but to play him and hope he matches his billing eventually.

How can he be wasted in the back row, it's his natural position. If we get the ball wide early enough then he can exploit one on one defence or put Yeamo through a gap. We could try using him running off a short ball from time to time like Rovers do with their backrowers.
