| i am a rugby league fan in general but i do have a soft spot for hull and i have a question....
....y do so many players at hull with obvious talent/potential not reach the heights?
I think it is partly do to playing out of position due to injuries.
Craig hall -good centre, played on the wing and full back and now seems to struggle.
Tommy lee, good half back, then a good hooker, hull turn him into a loose and he struggled.
Danny washbrook, 2 good years at loose man, played 6 since then and has not prgressed like people thought.
Shaun berrigan, world class hooker, not shown his class because he's olayed out of position alot.
I could go on. What do you all think?
Ps....im a new poster!

| In the cases of Washbrook, Hall, Lee etc maybe its just because they are just not goood enough to be anything other then bit part SL players. id still love to earn a living how they do along with the likes of Wheeldon, G Horne, Higgins and Dixon at Cas amongst others
As for Berrigan he had the unfortunate situation of replacing a modern day FC legend in Richard Swain, imo Cam Smith apart, nobody in the world could have replaced Swainy. In Berro's 1st 2 seasons with us he was our best player despite niggling injuries and been played all over the park. I really hope he steps upto the plate in the next few weeks with Longy missing.
What about these young players Hull have brought through in the not to distant past ie
Briscoe - England international and will only get better
Houghton - Really stepped up his game last few weeks, dark horse for England end of season imo
Horne R, King, Yeaman - All played for GB whilst at Hull
Cooke - with his talent should have gone to play for GB, more his fault then Hulls
Dowes, Raynor, Carvell - All played representative footie after been discarded by Leeds.
Could maybe add Shaun Briscoe to that - yeah, he must have learnt a lot under Radlinski, but showed true class with us.

Craig Hall - attitude
Tommy Lee - attitude
Danny Washbrook - he's a ball playing 13, we don't play with a ball playing 13 and he is ineffective at 6.
Berrigan - forced to play 7 at numerous times when we had injuries, and has had injuries himself. Not been as bad as some have made out.

i agree with all of that. But part of the question i asked was do u think it is due to our injuries, especially with hall washbrook and berrigan. Lee u may have a point but i think hall has a good attitude but due to being played out of position he may be frustrated.
I am no troll by the way. Just curious. Can i add whiting to the list as well...very good player but hasnt reached his potential because he plugs all the injuries.

I think you have a point. For me, I would try and always play a player where he is a natural. That said, the amount of injuries we have had over the last 4 seasons now probably, has precluded this from happening.

| i think you only have to look at the players who have played their 'proper' positions to see how that helps development alot more than playing to fill a hole. Danny houghton is a fine example of this. And i certainly think that berrigan washbrook and hall would all show up better had they had prolonged time in their specialist position.
