| I don't often post on here but I have been a reader of the forums for many years, but I just feel I need to make this post, I will probably get shot down for it, but here goes.
Last night as we all know was Richard Horne's testimonial Super League forum at Walton Club attended by some brilliant people from Super League, (BIG Eorl Crabtree (and he is one big barsteward), Rob Burrow, Ben Thaler, Shaun McRae, Richard Horne and some Hull Players (Big Sam was present).
I for one and I am sure other people who were there who read this will agree it was very poorly attended so much so I really did feel for the players, etc who had to speak in front of such a small crowd.
I know we are having a bad season and I am annoyed as anybody about it, but I just think it was a disgrace that so few people turned up to see what was a great line up and those people had taken time out from there personal lives to come and speak to us as supporters. I know there is alot going on throughout the year for Rich's testimonial, plus other recent events and money issues but I honestly thought this would have been well attendedfor someone who has served the club so well, sadly I was wrong.
On a positive note, what a night, Rob Burrow and Eorl Crabtree where brilliant speakers, Eorl says that Nathan Brown has him playing in a way he has never played before and loves it, where as in previous seasons he was told to play one way and one way only which he didn't enjoy (draw your own conclusions from that).
Ben Thaler really is a great character, spoke really well about the referee system and the lack of support the referees receive from the rfl, Rich Horne was his usual self and Shaun McRae was outstanding, such a brilliant speaker you couldn't shut him up, even afterwards there was a crowd of people around him quizzing him. Two things he did say, one is Jordan Turner is definatly leaving at the end of the season, which club he is going to he doesn't know, also he would love to return to coach Hull FC again one day.
Anyway, all in all a good night, just a shame it was poorly attended.

| The Crabtree story is interesting, just shows what going for a top coach can do for the development of players.
Imo if Agar was to go we should not be looking at the likes of Folkes, Murray etc who are are the more old fahioned type of coaches but a more recently retired NRL player who has a growing reputation as a coach. The likes of Brown seem to have a dfferent perspective on the game which is exactly what we need.

Lets just say the coach he mentioned, coach's in one way and one way only and is tunnel visioned to coach only that way and doesn't deviate from those methods.

And the irony is that many people on here were calling for his appointment when Sharp was on the way out.
What's that saying again? Oh yes - [iBe careful what you wish for...[/i

brown is a very innovative coach though. Possibly a one off. Wasn't it him who invented the chicken wing tackle? hudds current performances are built on excellent defence. They just grind wins out. Reminds me of Hull in 2006 after sharp took over.
For me, we need someone to come in and steady the ship. An inexperienced coach would be too much of a gamble for the club IMO. we need someone to come in, take stock and put the right structures and people in place. It doesn't need to be a long term appointment if it was Murray. Maybe 2 years while the club look for someone longer term

I'd rather go for someone young and hungry with a growing reputation than the old dinosaur type.

I'm gutted - I only heard about it last minute so I thought it would be sold out
Consider myself shamed and told off.

Would you take Shaun McRae, he did say last night he would like to come back?
Maybe in a Director of Rugby role with a younger coach?

| £10 was too expensive.
I was all set to go until I read it was £10.
After the weekend of Horne Testimonial stuff, I had a day off.

No. It's been around for years, probably just about as long as the game itself. That it's recently been given a moniker does not mean it is newly 'invented'.
