I've been following the whole 'we need a top 6/7' debate for quite a while now, I'm just quite intrigued how people think a top half back would transform Hull's season?

I've only ever seen one player who could carry a team on his own and that was Andrew Johns. And he still needed his pack to compete.

Not trolling, just think eveyones under the false impression that all FC's problems could be solved by some miracle working 7!

It is about having player to lead around the park, which we have lacked. Good examples been Burrows and Dobson. This would benefit the pack as it would give more structure and options instead of the rut we have found ourselves with 5 drives and a kick.

The team doesn't need carrying. It just needs direction, organisation and a half decent kicking game. (oh and a gameplan )

Results would suggest that our pack do 'compete'. The scorelines this year (Saints aside) have all been close so yes maybe a class half back would have made the difference.

That and a more expansive game plan ie play a proper loose forward!

A "top 7" isn't the only problem with our squad but it is THE biggest one and, although having one would make a huge difference, it wouldn't be enough in itself.

We also lack a top centre and we have too many forwards that don't go forward. A top 7 is a big priority but two or three more quality players are needed along with a whole new coaching set up to replace RA and the rest.

Your right let's not bother eh.

The pack do compete, we don't need a 7 to carry us we just need one to organise us better, give us more direction and to give us more cutting edge in the final third of the pitch.

A SH for me is someone who controls the game along with the hooker, if we bring in a quality no.7 and get him linking with Berrigan at hooker then our backs will see more quality ball.

Took the words right out of my mouth.. our pack compete's greatly i think we just lack a bit of ignition within the backs at the moment and some creativity with the 6/7.

I think the return of Motu & Raynor will prove a little lift personally

We've all seen over the last 2 seasons what a good SH has done for the team. First Matthew Head, then Adam Dykes (when fit) transformed the way we played and gave direction to all the hard work the lads put in.

We should stick a good offer in for Burrows
